Remote Support In Corporate Enviroment?

Alright, here is the question of the day. Basically I have been using UltraVNC with SingleClick for the past couple of years with this company. Now that has worked absolutely great, because I am always providing support to the remote offices from the main office. Since we have servers, the internet line we have has a static IP address, making SingleClick a great solution.

The problem is I am now leaving this company and moving to a new company. My original company has asked me to take them on as a client (as I originally did) and provide support on an as needed basis. When it comes to workstations, I would like remote access. SingleClick will no longer be a feasible solution, since I will not necessarily be providing support from the same location all of the time. Also I have been having some issues with SingleClick and Windows 7 which makes me want to switch programs.

So far I have looked at ShowMyPC.com, which I have used for random cases in the past. The plans seem fair ($40.00 a month for 20 computers) and I have never had a problem with it. I also looked at TeamViewer, but the price ($750) is too high at the moment.

Basically I am asking if anyone has used ShowMyPC.com in a corporate setting, how was your experience? If you have not, what can you recommend that is in a similar ballpark price wise? Thanks in advance for the input!

Sorry I am not familliar with the one you have mentioned.

What features are you in need of? I am a big fan of LogMeIn and all of their product offerings. LogMeIn Resuce and LongMeIn Central with the free clients are the two staple products we use and they are a great solution for remote repair and support solutions.

I use a dyndns.org and one of the many dyndns apps, so however shows their desktop to me with singleclick ends up at the correct router, where ever I go around the globe. Of course, you still have to tell the local router where to forward port 5500 to.

Also, you should have a 'bridgehead' or VPN link with your biz clients
and then make sure your connection gets a fixed IP address.

I've used dyndns for Florida, UK, Belgium, China, Singapore & the Maldives

Here are my .02

As has already been mentioned VPN plus VNC or RDP.
One corporate place that I do work for has DameWare NT Utlilties, or you could always just go with the less featured DameWare Mini Remote Control.

I have used in the past just about all remote solutions. I started with VNC and IPmonitor to track ip changes. Then came stuff like logmein and others of the sort. One day we decide to break down and buy teamviewer premium with the sql database manager option (2600 at the time) and have been smooth sailing from there. They have free options, priced options without the database (think around 700 per seat) and the more pricey options. We use it because it pays for itself over the competitions monthly fee structure because you only pay once and its yours. Plus they don't care about the computers only the seats. So you can have the software on as many systems as you want as long as you only use one at a time ( to make connections) and can support unlimited hosts and multiple concurrent sessions. Also we can connect from anywhere to anywhere just by visiting their website and getting the software. We run the quickconnect for one time support, the host on regularly supported systems without servers, and on domain we run it on the servers (host) as a connection point to run RDP to all local systems. Alternatively you can use their msi host and deploy it via group policy but that would still require documenting all the connections in the database (Thats why we use RDP locally in domains). I am in no way affiliated with teamviewer. I just say if your gonna be in the game a while then its a good investment. in the 2 or so years we have used them they only had one service outage that lasted about 1 1/2 hours. that sucked. other than that nothing but happy even with the support (germany I think)

Please take a minute to help me out here http://www.technibble.com/forums/showthread.php?t=19869
