Since 2016, I have used the Tekton Everybit Tech Rescue Kit.

I want to replace it with a higher-quality product that's less likely to strip screws. Mainly used for taking apart laptops.

What do you recommend?

I am liking the Wera 1013 Kraftform Micro Bitholding screwdriver. They also make a version that's ESD safe (Wera 300004).

I love the free-spin cap, anti-roll design, and slimness. I do not want multiple screwdrivers - one driver with multiple bits to save space and money.

This screwdriver does not accept standard 1/4" drill bits - it uses halfmoon and HIOS bits. Not sure how I am supposed to go about buying the individual bits I want or if there's any kits.

Bits needs to be magnetic.

I don't understand why I cannot find a single article talking about what the heck an HIOS drive and half moon drive is? What's the difference between the two? So ridiculous!

Neither. In 30 years of doing this, I have NEVER seen either one. EVER! Don't worry about it until you need it then buy it and charge the client out the wazoo for the specialized tool purchase.
Ok, looking at the tool I misunderstood this. That is the Half moon and HIOS are bit side, not the actual driver bits. That screwdriver takes both so not sure what it matters except that if you go that route you can ONLY use those bit styles and that basically means buying only from Wera. I wouldn't want to be locked into that. I also lose too many tools so I don't want to invest in something that expensive.

This tool is designed to take both half moon bits and HIOS bits. So all you would need to do is find the bit with the correct tip on it, in either style, and purchase that bit. This is a very versatile tool which is specifically designed to take both half moon and HIOS bits, giving you more options for bit selection. All you need to do is select the correct tip that you need in either of those bit styles and you will be all set.

I bought a Wiha set several years ago. I love them for all the small stuff.

Decided to go with Wiha over Wera.

This kit has a lot of stuff that I will never use. So, I will get what I need individually rather than a get a kit.

I can get the stuff directly from Wiha :)

About $40 (inc. S/H) for everything I need.

ESD Safe PicoFinish Precision Magnetic Microbit Holder + individual bits.

Mainly need Philips bits that will less likely cause laptop screws to strip.

I think my Tekton bits will also work with this driver.

I use two screwdrivers.

This one is the best ratcheting screwdriver I have ever used because there are no clicks but rather it is completely smooth. You can turn it perhaps 1 degree and actually get torque on a screw if in a tight place. I use this regularly for mounting switches in racks when I forget power tools. It is also great for attaching mounting brackets... I actually hold the handle and turn the blade with 2 fingers to spin it fast!

Finally, I have this impacter from Ingersoll Rand

Finally I buy Milwalkee bits particularly phillips #2 and #3

Ho

How is quality of the IFIXit set on a rating of 1 to 5? Also would you consider it mid grade? Not a bad price.

A solid 4. The driver tips have held up well, and a few times I've used them for things other than computers and had to put some force on them, and they've still held up. For the 35 bucks or whatever the kit was...worked for us, we grabbed about 4 of the kits. They're not ratchet...just a smooth spinning basic driver set with a good variety of driver bits.
