I had my first computer with Quickbooks 2013 come in. It was no updating to 8.1, I tried everything to get it to update with no luck so I decided to do a clean install of 8.1. I did a backup with Fab's and everything looked ok. I got done with the install of 8.1 and quickbooks and everything semms good. My question is do you guys know if payrolll will be activated in Qickbooks or not? Their company file has a password so I can't open it to find out. Another Question is do you guys have a way to reinstall Quickbooks without having to have it reregistered after you enter in the product number and license?

Thanks

Payroll is part of the backup so that will be fine. You must register QB. No going around that. But if the product was previously registered then it is pretty painless. A couple of questions to prove the end client is who they say they are and it unlocks.

Deetech : If you're ever in doubt (and this is how I do it) is I always go into Quickbooks and do a Quickbooks Backup, and save the QBB to an external USB.

I've never had the database fail yet, but the day it does I'll be glad I did.

You can activate QB's and the payroll by opening a sample company and enter in their respective s/n etc.

Alternatively, get their validation code (you can ask for it on your first activation over the phone).

In QB >> help >> about >> control + R + P >> enter validation code. done.
