Questions about internet - Powerline Adapter Kits

Another update -

These adapters turned out to be a bust - they didn't work at all in this application. They work super in my home, no matter which room I install them in.

However, they would not connect at the client's home. They are using Hughesnet - could that possibly cause a problem?

Their internet ping times are horrible & the surfing is painfully slow. I almost think dial-up would be a better choice for them.

I don't have an answer as to why they're not working well at this particular clients home. Perhaps they do have separate phased panels around this home.

While I haven't done tons and tons of power over ethernet adapters....I have done a few (including using myself)...and haven't had issues. But I have read about some buildings where, due to <some weird setup or problem with the electrical system>...they just don't work well.

Similar to wireless...sometimes you come across a building where it doesn't work well.

Yeah I know - it's hard to say if there may be some type of issue with the power circuits in this particular location. I would guess not, as it is a fairly upscale home & I would suspect that everything was installed properly, but you never know.

With the router/wireless adapter we have excellent signal/full strength bars on the connection, but the surfing is still unbearable. The ping times on the Sat. connection is around 1000, & they get something like 1 - 1.5 down.

I didn't know if that latency ping time would have any effect on a powerline adapter set up like this or not.

I have a client that has Hughesnet (horrible ISP), I have set up a powerline system for them, and have no issue. We tried wireless with this house and kept losing signal. I only use the 200Mbps systems. TP-Link makes a good product and comparable cost to your BB system:

Thanks for the link, looks like a good set. I will keep them in mind for future use. I can't understand why Hughesnet is so bad; Years ago I had direct tv/directpc that I installed myself & the surfing was nothing like what it is now.

Back then, Sat. was actually pleasurable & there were no "stuck" pages, "server cannot connect", etc. Don't know what happened, but they sure went downhill...
