Hi everyone

Lets see if anyone else can solve a pain in the arse problem i am having.

I have a Packard Bell onetwo L5351 All in One PC and for some reason it doesnt find the hard drive or dvdrw drive.

I have tried the following

  1. Bios Update to the latest version
  2. reset the bios
  3. left cmos battery out to reset the bios
  4. tried a different hard drive
  5. tried a different dvdrw drive
  6. tried it with just 1 hard drive in
  7. tried with a ssd just incase i could get that working at least
  8. boots of usb and floppy fine.
  9. tried different memory
  10. tested the memory just incase and it passed.
  11. tested the hard drive in another computer and it passed
  12. tried different power connectors for the drives
  13. tried different sata cables
  14. different sata ports on the motherboard
It posts 100% all the time with no problems what so ever but will it find a hard drive or cd drive! nope!

once in a blue moon it will find them on boot up when going thu post but when it passes that stage it just comes up with no bootable devices which means it can no longer find the hard drive or dvdrw.

Hope anyone has any ideas other than a new motherboard :) i can find a new motherboard for £65 from ebay in china but thats going to be my last resort.

Be sure to try different sata ports on the MB. some mbs come with 2 sets of sata ports like 2.0 and 3.0 etc. try to change the cables and look for any sign of damage to the ports or cables. before replacing the board I would consider re flowing the board using the oven bake method which you can find on google easily. I would not do this on a customers computer but I have fixed 2 of my boards with this method. One didn't last long but the other is still going strong 2 years after the re flow.

Hi

it did have abit of dust in the fans which i cleaned out, It did come in for the problem of not finding the hard drive and yes it just just happen one day. worked on the friday came in to the office on the monday and it was like that. I did replace the cmos battery too.

Am 99% sure its the motherboard aswell i just wanted to see if anyone else had any other idea's, An order to china i think it is :)

X5 on the mobo but there is a real slim chance that the 12V rail is faulty or weak. Does the system fan power up? Can you hear/feel the platters rotating? If yes it's probably the mobo. If no swap in any PS you have laying around.

Powers fine all the time posts fine too every time.

What do you mean x5?

I have ordered the motherboard from China. Let's hope that's the problem. Tried it with a new psu and still the same too.

I will update you all as soon as I know.
