Nice Windows 8 based PE boot cd

Good find.

Just for giggles (and in case anyone else is interested) I added this iso to the menu on my FOG server, and can confirm that it will PXE boot just fine using the memdisk method. One caveat however: You must pay close attention when the message "press any key to boot from CD" pops up. You have a very, very short window in which to comply before it will attempt to boot from the hard drive instead.

I noticed in the comments that he's adding imaging software to the next version (FWIW).

Might be worth asking him to drop the "press a key" stage while he's at it.

Hi everyone. I have indeed added imaging tools my Gandalfs_Win8PE iso boot disk and now have two versions available. One with the "press any key" and one without. I have moved my wordpress blog to a self-hosted site but you should still be able to find it by going to the link posted above. It will get redirected hopefully. Seems you can't post urls untill you've made 15 posts. :(
Thanks

Nice addition.

Just as an FYI: You've added DriveImageXML as one of the two imagers but you might want to take a look at this thread. "Faulty" would be a compliment.
Thanks for the feedback. I would use the included Drive Snapshot instead. It's a trial version and times out, but the shortcut on the desktop just downloads a fresh trial version of snapshot.exe which requires no install and is only 350kb :)

First off, I want to thank Gandalf50 for his work. I have been trying to get tools like winbuilder, UBCD, UBCD4WIN, you name it for ages! Finally I found this and plainly said it just works.

I have removed some of the portable apps to cut some fat and added fabsautobackup4tech, D7, and added a couple other portable apps such as teamviewer, TDSKiller, and Clamwin.

Now for the problem. When I start D7 it thinks that it is disconnected from the internet and will not download anything from the internet even though when starting the D7 browser connects just fine. I was wondering if any of you guys had the same problem or if this is a common issue.

Thanks in advance,
Tyler

Does anyone know of a USB wifi stick that will work with this on bootup ? Some laptops I try this on don't see the wifi so I am putting in my SMC EZConnect-g in one USB port and then in control panel installing the driver from another USB stick (my normal virus tools USB). This works fine but it would be nice to have a USB wifi that will be detected and fire up without fiddling with drivers.

I can't help but wonder if having 3DP Net in a folder on the USB disk would allow you to install the driver after the PE enviroment is loaded.

I'm not that familiar with D7 but on a quick test, from what I gathered it seems to be trying to use internet explorer to download. IE is not part of this WinPE
Maybe somewhere in D7 you can modify the default download browser. You can also try modifying the defaultapps.ini to point to chrome. I tried this and it does download it but does not launch it. May need a switch to open it.

Okay I have sat down and looked threw the iso and cannot figure out where the defaultapps.ini is. I this a file you provided? Or perhaps a file I have to create? Please let me know.

Thanks for your help,
Tyler

I've done a linux install on my Sierra stick in the past and it works fine. I just saw this so I'll give it a try and let you all know how it goes.

Edit: Surprise, Surprise!! skydrive does not work so well with 10.8.4 and FF. I click on download and nothing happens. Had to ctrl click and select open in new page to get the download started.

Has anyone tried installing this on a USB stick yet? Tried to my Sierra AT&T device first and then to a regular USB stick. Using rufus it chokes around 20% progress with "Error: ISO image extraction failure".

I've got it running on a USB drive; I think I used the Windows 7 USB tool from Microsoft, IIRC.

I guess you changed your post. My email has one from you with unetbootin so I went ahead and tried that. Works fine even though they claim that it is supposed to be for *nix distro's.

Booted fine from a regular stick so I'm building one on my AT&T stick. But I don't have a EUFI machines so I don't know how it would work in that environment.
