New: MBAM's own cloud backup plan

It's be nice if they told you prices without having to provide your e-mail address. Many potential customers will will see that as an invitation to be spammed.

I saw this on their blog:
Basic – $29.95/year
•50 GB
•Unlimited Devices

Standard – $59.95/year
•100 GB
•Unlimited Devices

Premium – $119.95/year (our best offer)
•200 GB
•Unlimited Devices

I beta tested. One thing I didn't like was that you had to pick whether or not you wanted to pre-encrypt when you created your account. You couldn't turn it on later if you changed your mind.

I think they might be somewhat expensive. Compared to Sugarsync, Dropbox & Box anyways. Given, although these are all cloud backup services, they don't provide the level of security Malwarebytes does. But is it worth it? Better put: does an end user think it's worth the cost? Does the extra layer of security make Malwarebytes' cloud service stand out from all the others?

Seems they only provide Malwarebytes Secure Backup for home users while I think SMB (rather small than medium) would be an excellent target as well.

Nevertheless, I like it :)

Edit: Xander has a good point though.

Wonder if they will introduce a reseller option. Also will it alert on failed backups?

Screenshot on their website shows an option to email at end of backup. I assume it emails no matter the status. Didn't look like there was an option to just email on failure.

Looks interesting good selling point to scan for malware before backup. Says powered by SOS so I guess it's not totally there own solution.

SOS has bugged me for years to sign up, I was die hard dedicated to mozy. But will flip for the right package. The install and set up was way faster than Mozy too.

I want to know where the backup data is stored. Often times, "cloud" is just a way of disguising the location because if you knew your data was going to be stored in certain countries, you would avoid it.

I want to know where the backup data is stored. Often times, "cloud" is just a way of disguising the location because if you knew your data was going to be stored in certain countries, you would avoid it.

In the FAQ section they mention the following concerning the location:

Your data is being stored in a U.S.-based SSAE 16 (SOC 1) certified data center. Security features include:

  • Manned 24-hour security and video surveillance
  • Proximity security badge access
  • State-of-the-art smoke and fire suppression
  • Temperature controlled environment systems
  • Seismically-braced construction
  • Redundant backup power systems

Those prices are incredibly cheap. I charge that per month for managed backup services. Even if you break it down cost per Gigabyte -- it seems as though their backend is using something like Amazon Glacier or they are expecting individuals not to use the full amount offered by the plans.

Aaaaaand buh bye:
