I'll grab a lenovo or asus and a Samsung SSD unless someone can suggest to me a better option? Anyone shipping SSD's as main drives without a massive price premium? I haven't paid much attention to the laptop world recently.

If I heat my SSD drive until it becomes a gaseous state hard drive, would that enable cloud computing? =P

Most companies pay the Government alot of money to have their SSD drives transported to space and put in geosynchronous orbit. The SSD's are loaded as payload on Atlas rockets and boosted into orbit. Thats how their name actually came about. It really stands for 'Sub Space Device'.

Incidently, When you have a hard drive crash that really means that one of the SSD drives actually fell from orbit and hit the earth.

Anyways, Thats how 'cloud computing' came to be. Therefore, You can also reason how 'Data Recovery' came into being. You see when the drive crashes NASA is under contract to recover your SSD.

Im glad I was able to clear this up for you. Many customers of mine ask this very same question. I guess thats why they call me the answer man :)

Ah, Another important question. Nature is facinating isnt it? Anyways, To answer your question - It depends on the region that you visit actually.

You see some fair ladies do not have the means of such formal education and therefore its a matter of trial and error (See below informative picture)

However, Thru our unlimited funding by our great government we were able to charter a flight to Brazil and find the real naked truth. Evidently, It seems they swing both ways there.

But to be kind and helpful, To answer the OP in this thread - Pretty much any laptop is going to see a major improvement with a SSD drive. I recommend Lenovo and probably most will tell you to buy a T series.

My appologies for the thread interruption.

Yes, I know about the speed improvement, just wondering if any are shipping with ssd's already that are worth talking about. I went with a cheap G510 from the lenovo outlet site and am dropping an a Samsung 840 EVO.

Thanks.

You know, I came across 2 Lenovo's that had ssd's in them. But they were from a buy I did for off-lease equipment. So, They were probably installed after purchase. Other than that I have no seen any.

I havent been pushing them because I was a bit sketchy on the failure rate. But that has improved with some models. Then there was the flap about kingston substituting slower controllers in the drives after they were reviewed. I think it was kingston. I guess I dont remember. Would have to research that. Anyways, I dont know of any laptop's shipping with them in. To me it would be cheaper to buy a good drive and put it in.

You can also buy a hybrid drive say 30 gb ssd / 250 gb and get storage and speed cheap. :D

I would think about looking into a laptop with one of the new M.2 SATA slots. If you are unsure of what M.2 SATA is here is a video with a brief overview, it also lists a few laptops with M.2 SATA slots. (Okay the forum won't let me post a URL as I have under 15 posts, so the video is called 'What is M.2? (featuring an ADATA SP900 SSD Review)' and is by 'Paul's Hardware' YouTube channel.)

Yes, I considered that too. Ultimately the laptop we chose didn't have the spare slot, although if I was buying one for myself I would certainly go that route.

Another thing to bear in mind is that most laptops only have a SATA-300 interface. So purchasing a cheap and cheerful SSD over a premium one is usually the way to go.
