Netbooks using built in LCD inverter?

I have a Toshiba NB255 net book sitting on my counter in pieces because the customer brought it to me after it had been dropped and the screen won't light up anymore.

Looked for inverter - no inverter
Looked online for inverter - no inverter

So, with this info in mind is it fair game to say that the newer Netbooks/LCD's have built the inverter into the LCD PCB?

i dont work on many netbooks, but notebooks with LED lcd's its all built into the screen

Ok, but I can still see a picture just like if an LCD screen toasted an inverter for the backlight.

So, even if you can see the screen and it's dim, all that means is that the power to the LED backlight is not there, or the lamp circuitry is bad. I've found that it's almost always the screen, when it happens....testing for it can be difficult, because you really don't have a lot to go on...and pinouts on the cables are near impossible to find.

You can check the cable but the screen is the most likely culprit.

Screens are cheap and most likely all thats required. I would just buy a screen (probably $50ish) and give it a shot. If for some reason it's something else, cut your losses and throw the screen on eBay.

These screens do not have inverters, and by the way the are not that cheap to replace.
