I was wondering if we can create office install discs like we do for vista/7 that you can install ANY version from (depending on the key)? Or do we have to have each copy of office (home/student/professional/standard ect). Did some googling and didn't find anything to conclusive.

Why would you need such a thing?

There are many subtle differences with Microsoft's installer, getting apparently the same software version from different vendors can result in otherwise legitimate product keys not being accepted. For example, OEM licences do not work with the correct version downloads from Microsoft's own web site.

Microsoft's application licensing is far more troublesome and complex than their operating system licensing, and that's dad enough.

Open Office FTW!

Incidentally, I now see that Office 2010 has now fully adopted the Open Document format that has been used by Open Office and many other open source office software.

Yes but i do have a few RARE customers that have legit copies of office and i would like to get the program back on the machine for them but i also do not want to keep 50+disks in my pouch in the shop. I created all in one and unattended installs for a reason. But i may just keep telling them, bring in your office discs or i will not reinstall (thus also proving it is a legit copy of office).

And that's the reason why I switched to Open Office.

It's been 2 years until now I'm using it even I have my own Sony VAIO Laptop and Windows 7 installed, I deleted the trial Office 2010 and replaced it with my Open Office complete installation.:D
