Trying to convert Live Mail into a PST file. I tried the usual method with LM open and outlook open but LM crashes a few minutes into it.
also tried importing from Outlook. I copied the LM store without any errors. it has a massive store with maybe 100 sub folders

I guess one way would be to buy a eml to pst converter.

How big, as in GB, is the store? Not familiar with LM but if it was big I'd try breaking it up. Remember that an email client is just a glorified database client. LM, being free from M$, is no doubt on the low end.

Just in case anyone ever wants it, I did download the installer for Windows Essentials 2012 about 1 week before it was pulled from Microsoft's site. I keep a copy on my Google Drive: Windows Live Mail (Windows Essentials) 2012 (ZIP format)

Since it was freeware, and I'm not selling it, I have no compunction about sharing it on the rare occasions where access to "out of print" software is needed.

Thanks, Mark, for the info.

Everything imported now I did not think I would ever be able to get LM. Installed it on a stable Win 10 imported store into LM then export to Outlook

Can you import WLM into EmClient on the PC, and then export it to a PST?
Thanks, I tried that but there was quite a few steps to export to EML then they want to sell you a converter maybe I misread but wanted to make it easy as there was a Gazillion sub folders.
Getting LM on a stable computer made it easy already put too much time into this not high paying job.

When you go on site to do a mom and pop new computer set up it's like a box of chocolates you never know what you're going to get
12 gig LM store and a computer as slow as molasses, that was never meant to run Windows 10, what expecting to be out in an hour

Sorry, I thought you were trying to export WLM to a PST so they could use Outlook. If that were the case, you would install EmClient on the customer's PC, set it up and import the WLM data, then export that from EmClient to a PST for use in Outlook. They might even just keep using EmClient instead of Outlook, since it's free. But I hear you about the mess you were facing and the expectation. Old people, sheesh! (...says the 80-y.o. tech).
