Client brings this is as it says "No hardware installed" when pressing the WiFi icon after the computer has been dropped onto the floor. I've had this issue software wise before so I tried all the common tricks including reinstalling.

I then tried the Airport card in another MB Pro and it works, so the card seems fine. I then realize that the USB port on the right side doesn't work and neither does the HDMI. The airport card is also located on the right side of the computer, making me think that there is some kind of electical problem that only affected the right side of the computer. Any ideas how I should proceed, what should I look for?

Starting to think it's the I/O board. Has anyone replaced this and are they known to break when you drop a computer etc?

Well if the airport is still not working in the original then it may be more than just the i/o board. Dropping a laptop can produce a wide variety of failures even if the case looks perfect.

Just to clarify, in the dropped laptop I took out the airport card and put it in another macbook and it works there. And since USB-port on the right side, card-reader, hdmi and Airport is not working but the computer works fine otherwise (left-side usb, keyboard, trackpad, screen, thunderbolt all works fine) I beleive that it's the I/O board since all the non-working parts are located on it. That's why Im wondering if anyone had success solving this problem by replacing the I/O board

Did you try just reseating the I/O cable?
But yes we have a few units in with faulty I/O boards.

Yes...

Do you guys "keep stock" these types of parts? I don't so I guess I tell the client that I can order it in but don't know if it will fix the problem or not, might be logic board...
