A1369 is the model.

LCD screen was broken, badly when client brought it in my shop.

Now with the new screen(new 200$ish), no back light will turn on.
They are wired to the inverter on the screen.
From what I recall backlight was not working when laptop came in.

I have to admit the job was kinda messy, but no wires were harmed during the operation :)

Now my problem, I can't find anywhere to buy a backlight...

And I can't be 100% sure it's the backlight or the new screen that's defective.

Old screen is just a mess cannot really test with it.

Any advice ?

Thanks.

Screens are LED backlit so no inverter and no backlight board like on the iMacs. More than likely the backlight fuse on the logic board. I suppose you could RMA the screen, but seeing as the original screen had no backlight as well...?

The backlight is a row of 14ish LED on a flat cable connected to the inverter.
Located at the bottom of the display bottom cover.

From what I recall when I started the computer before repair, I had no display at all.

I'm referencing a 13-inch macbook air like your original post stated. The earliest macbook air labeled as a "13-inch" is the mid 2010. Is this the machine you are talking about? If so, there is no inverter.

The only other thing I have to go by is A1369 which could be one of five different models. The A numbers most Windows techs throw on here to describe the unit they are referring to mean close to nothing.

Yes. I don't have the resources available you do, but I do a search by serial number to avoid confusion.

For this Air, do you mostly replace the whole display assembly or do you replace just the screen?

Also I heard from another source that there is a problem on those models with the board, simple chip replacement fixing the backlight problem.

Not sure about it but i'm sending my client to another place, i'll update the results.
