I have a friend who's mac has redirects and pop-up. The default page says SEARCH in google colors and a mackeeper ad in the bottom right of the window.

I have run malwarebytes and avast. I have uninstalled chrome as well as reset chrome, (no extentions are list) I did the same as well for Safari.

But it keeps coming up what am I missing or whatelse can I do?

So it happens with all browsers? Did you check the Applications folder for offenders? How did you uninstall Chrome? What happens with a new account?

That stuff shows up with many types of "cleaner" type apps.

Mike's link is a good list of places to clean up. I also had one called WeKnow that also promoted MacKeeper, yours sounds similar. That installed a System Profile that kept re-hijacking browsers. System Preferences->Profiles.

More info on WeKnow. I don't think this was the original resource I used but looks thorough.

This is what it looks like, but the Mac doesnt have a System Profile in Preferences. A quick google seems to suggest only Macs joined to LDAP would have that option. I went throught the other suggestions but it just wont go away.
