Logmein's Continued Insanity

We've had pretty good luck with Remote Utilities. There are a few kinks still (nothing insurmountable), but their price for one tech/unlimited computers was around $600 USD. They use a relay system with an internet ID like TeamViewer, so you don't have to poke any holes in the router, plus you can host your own relay server if you like, and brand the setup packages to an extent. We have one package for monthly maintenance clients and another for no-install ad-hoc connections.
And no, I have no affiliation with them other than being a satisfied customer.

+100 ScreenConnect.
With 1 Licencse ($ 325USD) great tool selft hosted.
1. Remote Control for PCs and Servers (WindowsXP/7/8/8.1/10/2003/2012, 2012 R2, MAC, Linux, Android Samsung Device at the moment )
2. Unatended Access to unlimited computers.
3. Remote File transfer.
4. Remote Run tools (Select a group of Machines, select the tool in your Toolbox(For example TechWARU with a preset, or any file you want), and ScreenConnect start the transfer to all group machines you selected and excuted it!)
5. Remote Command (Something like to a Shell, we run CMD commands).
6. Great reconnect feature, I think maybe is the better reconnect algorithm (I test Teamviewer, Dameware, PChelp,ChunckVNC, Crossloop, RemoteZilla, Logmein, Splashtop, VNC, Chrome Remote Desktop, AnyDesk, AmmyAdmin, and others I dont remember).
7. Extensions to do more powerful
8. Complete Web Control panel, to Manage Quick Remote Session, Unatended Session, Create Group Of Machines. (We will create a new Group Per company for example: ClientX, ScreenConnect show all machines of the ClientX under the group), Create new Technicians access, set level access, etc.
8. Audit Capacities, we can check what do our technicians, by log, and by video record (The operator dont know if is recording, we can record all sessions.)
9. Not based in VNC solutions, I see a lot of comercial tools based on VNC and the performance is really poor, and the re-connect very very bad.
10. Great performance, low cpu impact in the client side, operator side and server side.
11. Access to remote machines from: Windows, Mac, Linux (I dont test it), Android and IOS.
12. Re-Brading!! All our logos, name of the excutable.

My internet connection is 5Mb/1Mb and ScreenConnect work fine.

$325 one time fee for 1 tech and unlimited clients? Clients can be mac, pc, linux, ios, and android?

No changes need to be made to firewall on client computer?

What does the deployment package look like?

Yes is $325USD one Time fee (1 year free Upatedes) for 1 Tech and unlimited clients!!!, Clients can be: Windows, Linux, MAC, Android (Samsung Devices).
IOS support at the moment is only to connect to the clients, we cant fix IOS on remote :-(.

You need to install the screenconnect server (Installer server is about 10MB), and the commnon task of open ports to your server.

For the client side is transparent, dont need to open any port (An exception if your client has a very restricted ports policy to dont connect to external sites to the port your selected in your screenconnect, )

Check Remote Compatibily list:
https://www.screenconnect.com/Remote-Support-Compatibility

And Try the cloud version, this is a new plan on ScreenConnect (More expensive, Screenconnect has te server), for the peoploe dont want to install a 10MB server and open ports, because is a lot of work.

https://cloud.screenconnect.com/

See the pricing page:
https://www.screenconnect.com/Pricing

I'm using the "Selft Hosted Solution", I paid $325USD and now I know the If I get the Technibble Bussiness Repair Kit, Screenconnect make a discount. But not problem, the price is perfect for me.

You will try the cloud and see what's your better option.
My Internet Connection is ADSL 5Mb/1Mb with dinamic ip.
I install no-ip client and add a new record on my domain.

Now the support to my clients are for example:

http://fix.mydomain.com

And the connect there to download the client file, not the same concept of teamviewer with ID, but work better, for me was an small frustation, because I use teamviewer for years. But I see is better solution and is more easy than ID.

For example sometimes, the company only want to the remote connection from the IT, not for the users.

With SC the remote access is for IT, or authorized users from our portal. No anybody access to the machine with the ID and Password.

Steps to Connect New Client:

1. Operator Generate the session, with 4 options: Public (Listed on fix.mydomain.com), SecureCode (Small code 4 to put in a box on fix.mydomain.com, some like to join.me, and other 2 options), Put the name of client and Create a public Session or private with the name of the client.

2. The client on fix.mydomain.com, select his name and the client start to download.

3. Open the client.,exe (The excutable file generate by the system will be customizable for example MyCompany) then download a file like: MyCompany.ClientSetup.exe.

4. Start the bar progress of install and ask the UAC: YES or NOT.

Now the technician has access to the remote machine. The new machine show in a Green Indicator.

The unanted is more easy.

Unantended Session:

1. Click on button "+" Unantended.
2. Put the name of the Group ("ClientCompany")
3. Download on: Exe, MSI, PKG etc
4. Now with this file we will install in every machine of the "ClientCompany". With only 1 question "Yes" on the UAC.

All computers installed with "ClientCompany" we will see in a Simple Group.

Now we can run masive tool from the toolbox. We will run in all computers for example antivirus tool.

Maybe my english is bad, to be clear:

1 License for 1 technician ($325USD), Unlimited clients, 1 Concurrent session.

We can manage unlimited clientes, but 1 concurrent session.

The remote Toolbox, will run from the web page side, dont need more concurrent sessions (Video Demo:
).
If we have an automated scripts, or programs etc. Will sent to users at the same time.

Yes, that's why I gave up on it. The self-hosted version is quite a job to get going, to say the least :(

Recent convert to ScreenConnect here. Don't wait any more - just do it. 1 Licence will cost you $350 and a Digital Ocean droplet $5 per month or you can self-host on any old PC at home if you have decent BB. It's bloody brilliant.
I migrated from Simple Help and am also very pleased with Screen Connect.
The only problem that I have is with Kaspersky Internet Security in a non-domain environment.
I have to ask the end user to disable 'self defense' in Kaspersky Internet Security otherwise I am blocked from modifying any of its' settings.

Just add ScreenConnect to trusted app to use Kaspersky interface.

Do we have access to that setting while we are still being blocked?
Or, do we have to ask the end user (assuming we are remmoted in)?
Ask to disable self protection, and after add ScreenConnect to trusted app.
I only know this way, to don't disable the self protection for ever.

I guess I'm in the minority here. I bought teamviewer just before version 8 came out and was upgraded for free to version 8. I've stuck to that version and it offers everything I need for a one man shop.

They do keep pestering me about upgrading non stop. They also add UPGRADE NOW popups on my client's machines which is annoying. Some do upgrade every now and then and I have to "downgrade" it by installing teamviewer 10 on a virtual machine to remote into the new version, uninstall, put my custom teamviewer 8 setup file ont he desktop, tell client by phone to "double click the blue box, no not the icon with no blue in it at all, the BLUE BOX, it has a white circle... with blue arrows inside... it says TEAMVIEW... oh god damn it I'll drive right over..

What was I saying? oh, dont buy teamviewer.

Yes is $325USD one Time fee

Don't forget you get a discount with the technibble business kit.

I purchased the 2x license, It works great, but I may upgrade to 3x concurrent sessions. I have it self hosted behind a fixed ip address, and I had alot of trouble getting it to work right with my phone company router, but it has been working great since I put the phone company router into bridge mode and installed an Untangle box for my company.
