Logmein free reboot to safemode blue screen

I got a blue screen of dead on a remote job with logmein.
I used The hidden reboot into safemode feature and it consistently blue screened.

is this just a crazy incident or am i not the only one.

It really sucked telling my client i broke the install and needed to repair it in person.

explain that there are limits to your remote abilities and that their computer may be one exception that needs to be thoroughly services and checked for underlying hardware issues. most will understand and bring in, can also offer a discounted on-site service (they usually appreciate that as well)

I tend to use SingleClick for my limited remote repairs, but what is this secret boot to safe mode option you are speaking of? I can see this coming in handy as I cannot do this with my current software.

In Win XP you can use msconfig to set to boot in safe mode via the boot.ini tab...is this perhaps what you wanted to accomplish?

As far as I know using this method will not bring the system up with networking support. So the remote helper will not be able to connect.

I've used logmein many times, I used all modes and never had a problem. I think there is probably something wrong with the client's PC. Make sure the client app in your client's pc is current. If it blued screen you most likely have a crash dump file. If you do analyse it (if you know how) or use one of the few tools that can do it for you (can't remember the name of them right now so hopefully someone will tell you).

If the file is not related to logmein then you cant already blame it on the PC if it is then I would bring it up as there is a conflict within the PC that is making it crash when you do it through your app. I am not saying to lie but in reality you don't really know why it gets a BSOD.

I know of the method, but I haven't tried it and I am on Win7 so my options are different but I thought you could check the Network box and have it work in addition to Safe Mode, or maybe not...if not sorry, if so then you're welcome.

I guess it might have been a fluke thing to have logmein blue screen windows on me.
I tell you It was a mess. I tried to do a xp home repair install and halfway through the setup (inside setup) it was loading in safemode and failing.

I had to fix boot.ini (something i overlooked and regret)

have been using and likeing logmeinfree so far. i just might not try the safemode reboot option when im not close by.

I have been using logmein for over 2 years now. I subscribe to logmeinrescue and I have never had it crash a system. I think maybe once or twice I was not able to connect to a system for one reason or another but it never crashed a pc. xp, vista and now window 7. You have options in the control panel to force a reboot, logmein sends the command to the computer to reboot normally or in safe mode with networking and you get reconnected automatically without any end user intervention. The product is kind of pricey but its a solid product. I always tell the client that we can attempt to troubleshoot there issue online but some issues just can not be resolved remotely and I will never troubleshoot remotely for more than 20 minutes or so...If i'm not making good progress I tell them to drop it off.....

...with that said I just started to look at instant house call and I really like some of what that has to offer as well....

I use logmein rescue and never have had that happen, but have had the reboot with or without safe option not work, but for the most part it does.

Will watch for that. I use Windows 7 for my main box and Windows XP as a secondary.
