Laptop Hinge Repair?

Both Hinges broke off from lower case plastic, inside.

Has anyone found a strong, inexpensive way to repair this using a type of epoxy or hot glue? I read that the plastic used in laptops is resistant to sticking with glue/epoxy.

Already mentioned on this forum.
- Q-Bond adhesive
- Araldite 2-part epoxy
- JBQUICK

There are multiple versions of these products. What product works the best?

Has anyone had success with hot glue? Yes, you need a lot.

I've always used Loctite brand heavy duty epoxy. I've never had a problem with it not bonding with the laptop plastics. I usually prefer to replace parts, though...I'll occasionally replace the part, then fill it in a bit with epoxy to make sure it doesn't break again.

I'd be skeptical of hot glue. I guess it seems to work in the video, but I've always thought of that as a very weak bonding glue.

Loctite epoxy is good.

JB Weld is usually my "go to" method. If it is a severe break, I may even opt for fiberglass resin. I have past experience working with fiberglass and it usually makes an excellent repair, although if you are not used to working with it, it can be a bit tricky.

Hot glue is only good for gluing crafts together; if you try that method it will pull apart the first time the lid is closed/opened, no question.

You will want to scuff up the area good to give the adhesive a rough surface to stick to. Also, you might even want to use small screws (depending on the breakage area) for further reinforcement.

Another vote for JB Weld. I've used it often for problems like that. Never had one come back.

That looks like what I use.
