Does AARP sponsor her? I hear about her from my elderly clients more than anyone and in fact, not in years.
Yeah, I watch a LOT of videos, got them playing while I work on computers. Nice to hear a human voice...To be honest I'm not one to spend time watching youtube videos, especially channels like that.
A little curious on your thoughts, if you want to PM?I'm just not very impressed with him after those video's about the Eric Lundgren thing.
I don't mind swearing. I just didn't want someone to click on a video with their kids in the room, or at the store with customers in range.Sure, he swears and is blunt, big deal. But he's from NYC and we get reminded how some from there are like that on a daily basis, right? LOL!!!
Not sure if you watched the long interview he had with Lundgren? What really bothered me was either lying by omission or outright lying about what went down with Lundgren. Opinions are not the same as facts. And granted it may be his style but from what little I've seen he doesn't make much effort to backup his commentary with facts, at least in that case. Quoting someone else's article/opinion is not what I consider to be a presentation of facts. Unless, of course, that fact being discussed is really an opinion.
I've commented many times about how I'm no fan about how these big companies operate but in the end I respect the legal system we have for protecting copyrights, intellectual property, etc, etc. After all if I came up with the next great bread slicer I'd want to protect it as it's mine. Pretending they aren't allowed to do what they can legally do, protect their copyright's, IP, etc is rather disingenuous. And I also know that our legal system is stacked against us small fry when dealing with them.
I agree here, Right to Repair does not mean repairable. Everyone will just start doing what Microsoft Surface did and make it IMPOSSIBLE to even open. Sure you can buy the part, but good luck getting it in. and they can keep going, making the design unnecessarily complicated just to make repair harder. Right to Repair isn't the solution we need, but it is a good step.On the right to repair effort. Of course I'm all for it. But that's not really what our biggest problem is these days. Sure forcing Apple, and others, to allow OEM 3rd party part sources is great. But that does not change the underlying design, engineering and construction direction that has turned so much of the hardware into trash when it breaks.

I was torn on this topic for awhile, I'd love to hear (or read) other viewpoints.

Just nice to add warnings for some content as some people have "feelings"

Edit:
the link to the interview
just listening to Eric talk brought me to my opinions about him.
It's definitely a LOOONNNGGGG interview, and it's more just Eric talking about the whole story and them asking very few questions.Didn't see that interview, I'll watch it in the next few days. I did read a few posts by Eric and was not very impressed to be honest. At least about this event.
I'm not saying Louis is a douche. To be honest I'm not one to spend time watching youtube videos, especially channels like that. I do know he spends plenty of time and effort on researching repairing things and that's a great contribution to our industry segment. And I'm guessing his repair business is doing well. I'm just not very impressed with him after those video's about the Eric Lundgren thing.

I'm going to have to spend some time on Youtube to keep up with you guys. I don't know this Rossman guy. I've watching Eli the Computer Guy (back when he wasn't complaining about youtube and life, and actually taught you things). I've also been an avid listener of Britec, and more recently Linus. Any others I should look at?
Thank you that's very considerate! In fact I just had a lady and her 12yo daughter in the office while I had a youtube vid playing in the background. Luckily no swearing but nice to be made aware of it.I don't mind swearing. I just didn't want someone to click on a video with their kids in the room, or at the store with customers in range.
