Kim Komando

Does anyone read her blog? I saw this and thought "Wow!" Then I read the article and said "I already knew all of these things." I guess she's not meant for working technicians.

I hear her now and again when in the car. I do kinda laugh when she pushes that Epson Ink Cartridge printer. Its probably a piece of junk.

I think she is mostly for those that know nothing about computers. If she ever had to go up against any of us we would smoke her.

She is for the novice. As for any product she speaks about it is only because she gets commission/paid.

She speaks people listen and buys whatever she endorses and she gets paid. She makes a good living doing it and is easy on the eyes as well.
She has been doing it a long time.

And I would contend she is for nobody, not even the novice... if it's all a shill game for paying advertisers then you best look elsewhere anyways. Kim Komando is often fully incorrect.

I'm often incorrect too, but I guess I'm still not incorrect enough:

"Komando is an avid car collector and owns a 1946 Chevrolet truck, a 1964 1/2 Ford Mustang, a 1966 Custom Corvette, a 1967 Corvette that was in the movie Con Air, a Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG, a Mercedes-Benz GTR, a Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG, and a Ferrari F12 Berlinetta. She splits her time between her homes in Arizona and Maui, Hawaii. "

Back in her early days, she actually had some pretty good stuff on her radio show. However, over the last 6-10 years, she's crossed over to the dark side -- MUCH more prone to sensationalism and talking about things from her sponsors. You can tell that the bulk of her income now is via click bait newsletters and her website.

The whole site looks like click bait. In fact it reminds me of that car sales site that shows up here every so often.
Hey, lings cars dot com is good for a laugh!
Stress test your adblockers and drive Autistic people wild!
And you get an education on how NOT to do a website!
But then again, she's one of the UK's richest car dealers/renters...
And you can trust her because "She is Ling!" It says so right on her website! :p:D

People like that, including Rossman, make a living on click through rather than providing real support to real end users.
Rossman assuming you mean this one: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCl2mFZoRqjw_ELax4Yisf6w
He does make a pretty penny from click-through, but I do not believe he is a "sellout" to such a degree as Kim appears to be. the things he sells seem like real quality products that he trusts. Kim seems much more like fake, rather than a professional who makes money advertising quality products.

The guy that has a perpetual h@rd0n for Apple, no idea where he lives.

Hey Mark,

I think I have been watching his videos for about a year or so now. I have even gone back to some of his earlier ones. Well, I normally can agree on about every word you say but here I have to disagree a bit. However, We can agree to disagree right? :)

Louis shares a lot of info on repairs and equipment use. He built his business up from scratch and is doing a very good job at it. I am pretty proud of his accomplishments. If anyone has the desire and time to watch his videos you can learn to repair crapple equipment. IDK, About pushing products like KK does I think there is a difference here. He has used and still continues to use this equipment. He does get a kick back from Amazon on what is sold thru his online site. Everyone does that. I would do that too. However, I very much doubt that KK has an Epson printer in the house or any of the other computer equipment that she pushes.

Louis is from New York.

IMHO, I have a lot of respect for him. Not only does he bash crapple all the time he is also getting active in "RIght to Repair" which should interest everyone here.

Respectively,

coffee
