Just installed my new Synology NAS DS 418. Any recommendations?

Hello, all. I just finished setting up my new Synology NAS DS418. I put (4) 8TB drives in it. I'm fairly new to Synology. Does anyone have any recommendations about software packages or general advice? Right now, I plan to use it to store local pc backups and as a music player. I would also like to explore what else it can do. Thanks in advance.

That quad core Realtek RTD1296 is getting long in the tooth and becoming unsupported.
Have a client running Plex Server along with some other stuff and a lot of it needs "mono" - an open-source .NET of sorts.. which stopped supporting that chip. Seems there's something wrong with the way it handles maths and cryptography because it gets a "can't calculate vector of the curve" or something like that. Why that matters is because without it, the damned thing won't do TLS 1.2 or 1.3 - can't remember... so it won't connect to many "online services" correctly (Think newsgroups, nzb, etc) - especially things with API keys and the sort.

It's a solid little NAS, I'd use it for that ;-)

Their VPN package is a nice addon if you're looking for that feature. Using that at several clients who don't have real routers.
