I have a laptop that was another company tried to perform a virus removal on. When you boot the computer the Biometric reader is constantly processing. It makes the processing circle constantly spin. I can disable it and everything is fine. I have tried deleting the driver and re-installing it, but I get the same problem. I tried using the older Windows 8.1 driver because this is a Windows 8 system upgraded to 10, same issue.

Has anyone else come across this issue?

The laptop is a HP Envy m4-1150la

After doing some additional searching I saw where a lot of people where complaining about HP SimplePass for other issues. SimplePass held on to the credentials. I had to hunt for it because it wasn't in the installed programs list like it should've been. After I deleted the software and driver, rebooted so the driver will re-install it all worked the way it should. It would boot fine every so often when I went through my virus removal process, so I am going to periodically boot it up to insure it doesn't start back.

The customer said she could doesn't have a problem not using the fingerprint reader, but I feel like it's going out half fixed.

I don't know. Whenever a client brings in a system that's been mucked around with by another "tech," it's nuke n' pave time. There's no way to know how extensive the damage the other tech did and you don't want to be blamed for issues that THEY caused later down the road. "Oh, well now my printer doesn't work!" No thanks. Jobs like these are like a bottomless money pit.

I agree. In this case she couldn't find her information for software she had. I did inform her that I can't guarantee anything.

After my research it also wouldn't have fixed this issue.

The company that "fixed" it the first time is actually one of the largest in the area. I've actually never heard bad stuff about them. I was surprised at how they treated her.
Also suprised they left the software installed they used to remove infections.
