Iphone App.. Yay or Nay?

Well i have got a Iphone app designed and programmed and ready for release. But my question is do you guys think it would be worth it considering all the services RC's PC's offers: Web Design & Programming, Digital Conversions, and Computer Repair + Services.

I built it myself so im not out any money if you guys say no but i would lose my time.

It has contact information a map link and all of our portfolio and services listed.

I honestly would consider it useless. I would never install an app on my iPod just so I would have a companies contact information, that is what the contacts are for and it works well. Even pulling up maps if I need them.

That being said, you already made it, why not?

You also may have found another service you could offer.

edit: some ideas to make it useful, Make it interactive. can they contact you from the app via email? How about sending coupons or maybe the news from your website? How about push notifications when these things happen so you can get the user's attention?

Heres a business idea. Make an app that does these basic things and offer it to other local businesses. They will have a direct line to their customers while also benefitting them.

why do people put so much effort into making stuff for the iphone and forget about the other phones which are so much better


iphone isnt the first phone to be able to do this

im not going to be forced into buying a iphone just cause someone was nasty enough to make a iphone app and not one for my android

how did you make this are you a programmer or are you using some kind of tool that makes it easy to make apps

I used xcode with nimble kit plug in so i could use html and javascript to code it, ive been looking into learning objective-c though.
It was a very easy transition since im use to using javascript and html +css and such in everyday business.

i dont quite understand what your app does but from the coments i get the jist of it

a app id see a susefull would be one that could display a list of common avs and what there current version /virus deff is so at a glance i can tell if i have the latest definition and version at hand

Thats not a bad idea at all make it database driven from one of the download sites, add support for other software charge 99 cents. You have quite the idea their Reesk92

Are you going to have to pay Apple's $99.00 annual fee in order to have it placed in the Itunes Store or will people somehow be able to download it some other way?

yea, i would have to do the $99, although, my phone is jailbroken so what housecalls suggested isnt a bad idea,

Actually, you just need to post a repository (not sure of the format but...) and one could add it to a jailbreaked phone. You don't even need to add it, necessarily, to any official repositories at all. Could be done as beta testing.
