So, I broke down and purchased one of these thinking I could expand my portable tools and not carry thumb drives and DVD's. I managed to get it setup, at least to the point where I load it with iso's. I'm missing something in this process as I haven't been able to boot to anything. It seems I should be able to copy the iso to the _iso folder and be good to go. That makes no sense to me as the iso hasn't been written and I'm unable to boot from it. Probably stupid simple to do this I know. I seem to be missing the obvious though.

the iso hasn't been written
I don't understand what you mean by that. Written where? You had it right -- copy the iso to the "_iso" folder on the IODD while in HDD mode, switch the IODD to ODD mode, plug it into the sick machine, set boot options to boot from the IODD, select the iso image of choice on the IODD and let 'er rip.

Ah, so the iso gets copied while it's in HDD mode rather than just leave it in dual mode. I'll try that.

I set mine to Dual Mode so I don't have to think about switching it. I can copy to the _iso folder, unplug it and plug it in to said pc and boot from it.

You have to select on the device which iso is going to boot. You should be able to scroll through the iso images using the cursor keys. Sub folders work also.

Ok, so I think I have it figured out...sort of. I've added a few iso's and have booted them all from a test machine. According to the manual I should be able to use Windows to go as well. I've made a partition for various tools I use to have with me. I'm using a 250GB SSD so I should have plenty of room. Including a case is a nice touch, but they should have included a pouch or something for the cable. Other than that, this looks like a handy tool.

I grumble about this with every USB to SATA adapter I buy, every external drive, etc. It's such a pain to keep the bits together and organized in your go bag. The one thing I have that I LOVE is a Samsung T5 portable SSD. It came with its own zippered case (made by Xanad) that has space for the cable and a little extra room that I use to keep a flash drive in there as well. That company makes a bunch of different custom cases, but none that I thought would work for my other junk.

I too have had problems when I try to use my IODD in dual mode. So I just switch back and forth between HDD and ODD as needed.
