Installing iOS7.0 on iPhone 5

I'm really glad I didn't install it on my iPhone 5, and am really regretting installing it onto my iPad 2.

I *hate* the new multitasking; even on the iPads large screen, you can only see three open apps at once, whereas before you could see what; like 8 or so?

The way the scrolling works through the open apps is just awful; often I'll try to keep scrolling through the open apps, but instead it will register it as a tap on the app & will open up the wrong app.

Anyway, OP; if you're inquiring as to the performance of iOS 7 on the 5, there shouldn't be any issues as it's identical to the 5C. The few reviews I've read have said the 5 handles iOS 7 just fine.

I would really caution AGAINST installing it until you get to play with it to see if you like it. The calendar changes alone are a deal-breaker for me.

Apple really screwed up with this update.

drjones, I'm still holding off on the upgrade. I have been given the link on how to go back to iOS5 if it turns out iOS 7 is garbage. Takes a little work and preplanning, but at least this time there is a rollback option even if it's not Apple blessed

You have the link to downgrade to iOS5 or iOS6?

If it's iOS6, can you *please* share that info? It's my understanding that Apple stopped digitally signing their iOS6 software just this past weekend....crap....

On another note, I got to play very briefly with a friends 5S last night & I was extremely underwhelmed - it did NOT seem noticeably faster than my 5, and in fact, we held them side-by-side, and due to the ridiculous animations apple loaded into iOS7, the 5S is significantly SLOWER in launching most apps than my 5.

Apple really screwed up with this one.

Here are the link provided to me for going back to iOS6.

I haven't tried this yet

Thanks, but I've already seen that...the issue is that Apple no longer allows digital signing of anything prior to iOS 7, meaning it won't install/activate.

I'd love to be wrong....

I sense more Unfounded Apple hate in this post than anything. After a week the responses are overwhelmingly positive. I've even seen unbiased reviews saying looking at iOS6 anymore is "painful". But as they say, "haters gotta hate" or whatever the kids are saying now.

Right. That's why I've been using an iPhone since the 3G, and the iPad since the original.

No, the calendar on the iPad totally sucks; before on "daily" view, you'd also get a small month-view that you could use to see what day Sept. 30 falls on, for example.

That's gone, replaced by a stupid sliding bar along the top, which is far more cumbersome and takes far longer to give you less info.

If you switch to "Month" view, you cannot tap/zoom in on an individual day to view all the appointments, nor can you scroll through them; you have to actually switch back to "daily" view.

Lots of little things like that, that in my opinion negatively affect functionality in a very big way.

I've had a number of customers say the new display looks juvenile and childish.

I actually like it.
Read into that what you wish.

I really like the new set of ringtones as well.

I REALLY like the swipe screen which gives me access to the torch and calculator.

None of my animosity towards the new iOS has anything to do with its appearance, though I'm not crazy about it. My gripes are all functionality-related.

I do really like the new ringtones/alert tones, and I'd love to have control center on my iPhone.

I *hate* the new notification center; the whole purpose of that is to give you bits of information, quickly, such as what phone/texts/emails you've missed.

Now, again, you have to do MORE work for less/the same info with the way they've created three separate freakin' tabs for it, AND it defaults to the useless "today" view, which is just your calendar appointments.

Great, there's an app for viewing all my appointments; it's called the calendar, apple....

Awful. Just awful.

THis thread isn't about love or hate of Apple products. It's about how iOS 7.0 performs on iPhone 5 and older.

So lets keep it on track and only about how iOS7.0 is working on older equipment.

Like I said above, it seemed to run SLOWER than iOS6 on even the 5S due to all the heavy animations.

Again, I'd skip this one......

I have noticed iOS 7 is a bit slower on my 2 year old 4s than iOS 6 was. Also I have noticed a drop in battery life. I'd estimate 15-20% drop but have not tested it.

Slower? I can say that maybe it has dropped a tad bit in performance. When it comes to battery life though I absolutely agree. I find myself charging my phone alot more than I used to before. That is only with the occasional browsing, e-mail and texting.
