Alligators, crocodiles, what's the difference? Water Moccasins, yeah, they are bad, but no worse than the snakes little kids play with in Australia! And rattlesnakes, they tell you they're there and you walk away. We have an arrangement. Black Widows, not actually usually deadly. Their bite just sucks hard. I believe it causes unbelievable pain for way longer than one would like. There are spiders in Australia that can carry away one of those tiny European cars! Guns, you got me there. That one is getting pretty out of hand.

I live in Iowa. It gets cold here in the winter, at least for a couple more years, anyway. We have rattlesnakes and that's about it. And I've never seen one even living in a small town and going into the woods all the time. I'm not much of a hunter or fisher, but every year I like to get some morels. And I'm in Iowa. It's the spiders. Spiders are the scariest thing on earth. Anything with more than 6 legs is pretty bad, but spiders are the worst. And they're big in Australia. I'm a p#$%$ when it comes to spiders. Are you happy now? I've said it! Australia has big spiders and that thought makes me poop a little. I don't care about snakes or jackals or dingos. I'd happily be kicked to death by a kanguru if I didn't see any spiders. I don't mind getting mauled to death by kittens (kind of want to be the first person to go that way, actually) and bears aren't scary, they're just deadly. As long as it doesn't crawl on me first with eight freaky legs, I'm good.
I guess we do have wolf spiders here. Necrotic flesh is the stuff of nightmares. But you know what's worse? 8 tiny, harry, disgusting little legs with big, bulbous joints crawling all over you before your flesh becomes necrotic from the bite. Nightmares.

You've been gone a while if you have fond memories of pigs. Pig manure is one of the most repugnant smells on the planet. But bacon is good, so I suppose it's a wash.

As far as I'm aware there wasn't any pig farming in the area where I was in college, but "Land of corn and pigs" was good for the occasional laugh.
If there had been, you would have known. And I have often referred to the middle of nowhere in Iowa as "pig f$#$%er country".

Yeah, we have original Australians that do that to. It's called "Walkabout".
Regarding spiders we have the Funnel Web who's bite can kill you in 20 minutes or so. Ironically the male which is much smaller and rarer (because the female kills and eats him after procreating) is much more deadly.

We don't really have "big" spiders apart from the Huntsman. It looks like you guys have them too. Huntsman are pretty harmless but will give you a painful bite if you mess with them. Every house in Australia has at least a dozen Huntsman spiders at any one time as well as many other spiders.
It's not like we have those giant Bird Eating Spiders like they do in New Guinea!
The only spider that "scares" me is this one. They hide in clothing, shoes, washing, towels etc. It causes necrotic flesh and death in some people and I don't want to be one of them!
Redbacks are Australia wide and can kill in some instances.
Funnel Webs are only found on the east coast from just below Sydney up to Cairns in Qld.
Then there's the snakes...and Ticks...and wasps...and Box Jellyfish, Bluebottles, Lion Fish, Stone Fish, Coney Shells......
And lets not forget these guys!
Grey Nurse, Bull, White Pointer (or Great White), Reef, Tiger, Hammerhead and a few other sharks that will think nothing of having you for lunch!

I spelled Kangaroo funny because I'm not familiar with the animal and my spelling was a brand name for a flash drive I own. I didn't even stop and think about the fact that they spelled it stupid.
I don't know why I clicked on your link for the scary spider. I shouldn't have, but I did. Nightmares will be had.
I don't have just a normal spider phobia. When I was a little kid, around 5 or so, I lived in a very tiny town (2 or 3 streets total). One evening just about dusk I wanted to walk to my aunt's house, which you could see from mine. On the way I felt something in the back of my shoe. I reached in my shoe, pulled it out and opened my hand. There, sitting in the middle of my hand, was the biggest spider in the world (at the time it seemed that way). It sat there, taking up what seemed like half my hand for a second, then scurried off. I could feel it crawling on my for weeks after. I was traumatized, dammit!

Yeah, of all the creepy crawlies I think I hate spiders more than anything else.

Well I always wanted to visit Australia until you said every house has a least a dozen spiders as well as many others. I freak just seeing one and don't think I would ever get used to seeing them.

TLDR, the bites haven't been associated with Necrosis. That being said that little bugger reminds of this ******* I get to deal with: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Recluse_spider Here in AZ we have our own specifically little tweak on the brown recluse nightmare known as the Arizona Brown Spider.
The bites hurt, and if you're allergic will get very ugly very quickly. But unless you're an idiot that doesn't go see the doctor your odds of turning into a YouTube video are pretty slim.

Say hello to the most venomous animal in the North American continent, it doesn't hold a candle to some truly lethal Australian species, but even you should pause a bit knowing that this creepy critter lives in a blasted colony! Most scorpions are solitary things, you find one and you're good for miles. These monsters live like roaches, in the walls, in the roots under the trees, they're everywhere, hundreds if not thousands of them. I find at least one in my house per year, though they mostly stay outside. The last time I got stung by one my foot was numb and tingling for a week. So still won't kill you, just highly annoying. Oh yeah, and they love to hide out in your shoes, so you put them on and BAM.

Lol, your house would be exactly the same. You would have spiders everywhere it's just that you don't see them.
Someone did a study once and found that houses can have up to 2000+ bugs at any one time (not including parasites), like ants, cockroaches, fleas, spiders, earwigs, flies, moths, etc etc.

Incorrect. I had a friend die from the bite of one of these spiders. She was bitten on the neck by one when hanging washing.
Unfortunately doctors could not remove her head, neck or shoulders to stop the necrosis.
