That said, I would hardly call USB easy... I sometimes have the flip it 1440 degrees while attempting to it in about four times before it finally goes.
In contrast I don't have those problems with the fiber connectors shown in my Avatar - especially the LC connector is easy. The ST connectors sometimes give new folks trouble though.

Yeah, you have to flip them... The next fun one is a link light on one end and not the other.
If you still have trouble, test with an OTDR. Usually 9 times out of 10 they just need cleaning.

It's anhydrous alcohol, so it is very pure and dry. It's actually 99.95%. I just stick the straw in the LIU or FIU and give it a quick blast and sometimes follow that with a quick blast from an air duster to dry it. Thus far it has taken multimode connectors that won't run 10 G LRM (only will run SX at 1G). Most times it works well.

Well, unless you know, I'd say that was a good first try. Still deserves quotes around the "tech" label for not switching it when it didn't work, though.
