Are you not up for the challenge, Larry?
My wife forbids it. Since getting food poisoning about five years ago, I get vertigo when I look upward, like when changing a light bulb or the battery in a ceiling-mounted smoke detector. The picture below gives an idea of the stairwell: there's about a 14 ft drop from the chandelier to the basement floor at the base of the stairwell. Standing on a stepladder with one end propped on a stool and reaching over to the chandelier is inviting disaster. :)

Yes, I have Meniere's so anything above the first rung of the ladder is too high for me and time to call "the guy!"
You have a beautiful home BTW!;):)

Linux isn't quite like that anymore. If it were I'd probably still be using Windbloze!
in the old days, I used to "play" with "new" distro's as they became available. Do you remember Licorice? Dolphin Linux? Yellow Dog? Turbo Linux? BeOS? Haiku? Mandrake? Corel Linux? etc, etc!
Just getting the sound to work was a "pump the air with your fists" moment! Lol

Naw, didn't really get into Linux until Ubuntu 10.04 desktop (and server). Then didn't like the new desktop of Ubuntu so I looked real hard at other flavors and settled with Mint MATE (18.1 is what I am running now).

I think I took a quick look at Corel Linux. But then again I played with OS/2 Warp (3.0 I believe) and Desqview / Qemm back when I was part of a multi-line BBS who ended up running Fido-Net as our email service. I've seen a lot of changes over the years as I am sure many here have too!

We ran PCBoard 14.5 multi lines (at the most 2 for a short time). The Communicator II BBS was the name of the board. Ahhhhh, dem wuz da daysssssssss
