Heres a fun one, got in a nice spectre but client crashed it running minecraft, youtube, multiple apps etc until it crashed....badly. No boot, optaine partition integrated in to ssd, tried to disable it to boot, naturally, no-go. So shes ok with a nuke&pave but for some odd reason it will not accept the intel ssd driver in the windows 11 usb installer (I know the installer is fine, use it constantly) it just freezes when i click install. ideas? I have restored default bios settings too. SSD passes all diagnostic tests.

This is the driver you are using correct The Intel® Rapid Storage Technology (Intel® RST) Driver (18.7.6.1010.3)

Have you ruled out a hardware problem?
This. Swap out the SSD just to see if that's it, if nothing else. Failing SSDs can behave this way and can even completely lock up systems to the point where you can't even boot from a flash drive/external SSD. If it behaves the same way with a new SSD then it's almost guaranteed that it's a driver problem.

In answer to all, yup the ssd tested fine, I got the rst drivers from exact hp model too. This bios was awful, very limited changes I could make, no option to switch from RAID to AHCI, the solution that finally worked was I disabled optaine and disabled keep data, then unplugged the battery and removed the ssd. Put it in my bench and it showed 2080 GB when its only a 1tb, so i cleaned it with cmd. Popped back in the spectre and FINALLY it had dumped the optaine garbage and let me install the rst drivers. Just FYI in this HP the bios showed as two ssds, one 900+gb and one 27gb but its actually just one ssd. Nothing could touch or see the drive, tried all my usb tools. The bios wouldn't let me disable optaine and the ssd was so badly corrupted it had to be wiped. I'm sure I'll see more of this, but this is one of my worst optaine experiences.

In the past, with any drive-related issues I used to just replace an optane drive with a standard NVMe drive. The new NVMe drives were cheap, and faster than just having a slow optane drive with built-in cache.

Now that NVMe drives are much more expensive, I suppose it justifies spending the time on the annoying optane drive.

They are so much more, especially a 1TB. and there was nothing wrong with it, just needed to be wiped, bit of a hassle though
