How the heck...

Nope...it's solid. Blew my mind they designed something like that. How INCREDIBLY stupid...

Looks like you'll be breaking out the cutters :)

Projects like this are fun!!

On the other hand, you could always get another case, $20 :P

I would just cut the case out... considering the PCI slots match the cutting space :P (I wouldn't be surprised hehe)

Yes, the new low end HPs are incredibly cheap. I was surprised when I saw they started using external PSUs for the desktops. At the rate they're going they'll probably be making cases out of cardboard in a year or two, then they can advertise that it's earth friendly & recyclable.

That's garbage!!! Reminds me of the emachines power supplies being soldered into their cases back in the day.

Is this a recent model? What model/line is it?

If you go with a new case then I would wonder if the MB is of standard size or some wierd HP size?

Before you go cutting/ordering new case and whatnot may want to make sure there is even a pci x16 slot. Last one I dealt with had none.

Yeah that was my concern. If they were stupid enough to make a case like this I was thinking the insides probably match...

Will get make and model.

That is about as bare bones as you can get without going raspberry pi.
2 Sata ports? sorry about wanting that extra hd. No expansion slots, a soldered down AMD...

I just cried a little on the inside.

That is about as upgradeable as a tablet.
