Holy F--- I'm old. Windows 95 is 20 years old today.

Aww man those were funny Mark...yeah there were some weird shells by some manufacturers for those "family PCs".

I remember Packard Bell in particular. My Dad was visiting back then and was looking for a new computer. He saw a PB computer at Computer City that had a TV card. No matter what I said he insisted on getting it, with a whopping 14" monitor. Imagine watching TV on that. PB's shell had a picture of a TV. Click on it and, after some time, the TV tuner app loaded.

Luxury.

Back in the 80's, I made my own car TV, from an old black and white 1.5" (yes, you read that right, one and a half inch!) view finder. It was combined with an old TV tuner circuit board, and the necessary voltage regulators to allow it to run on 12v, all packed into a 10" x 6" x 2" black plastic box.

A few years later, I upgraded it to a 5" B&W portable TV and I also acquired a Panasonic NV180 (which I still have!), so that I could watch TV and videos in my car. Picture quality wasn't brilliant, but it provided a home from home and, at a time when I was still just a kid, living with my parents, I enjoyed having my own space away from home.

I had this beast of a GFX card to run my Descent and awesome 3D Games..3DFX Voodoo 2 and adjusted pins on mobo to overclock CPU. Still have the mobo Cyrix 686 board embedded in my memories cabinet in my manshed.

I had a pair of those Voodoo2 cards....used to run them in "SLI mode".
I remember the original first Voodoo card too....I got the Diamond Monster 3D the first month they came out. Think the freaking thing was 399 bucks or so back then. Used to play Descent well before that card came out.....was a cool game...one of the earlier "true 3D environment" games. I used to have a controller called the Orb360 which was great for that game.

I loved Descent! I swapped out a lot of hardware during those years, and recently stumbled upon my old SoundBlaster Voodoo2 card. It used a chipset from 3Dfx, and came with 12MB of "Super High-Performance Memory." I think it's from '97 - '98.

had one of those couldnt remember the name - awesome. Didnt it work so you had to run two cards to get 3D? Damn Im old cant even remember hehe

I had a creative Labs graphics blaster extreme card, this meant I didn't have to have a second card like the voodoo. The chipset was permedia 2 and I was 12 years old. What a geek I was to remember all that.
