Ok heres the thing, read carefully:

In my office, as usual, the websites are blocked, BUT its blocked in such a way that the program will check the "category" of the website first. and IF the website falls under "computer & internet", then it will be opened, but if its under some else category then it wudnt open. FOR EXAMPLE:

1. if i open orkut it says "its blocked because of CATEGORY : PERSONAL & DATING"
2. If i open facebook.com it says "blocked, facebook.com/ is categorized as: Personals & Dating"
3. IF i open technicbble.com or something else which is related to computers, it opens them up.

I made some more research and on websiteoutlook.com there is a difference, check these two links out.

http://websiteoutlook.com/www.technibble.com

http://websiteoutlook.com/www.nextiseast.com

Now you might notice, that technibble is the only site on its server, at the same time nextiseast has many sites on it, which probably means (according to me) is the web hosting company is kinda reseller.

I am thinking to open up new blog, but i want it to open in my office, so i am not sure where should i purchase the hosting from to get it categorized under "computers and internet".

If you dont understand it then reply it, i will try to ellaborate more,.

It's telling you all the shared sites on that IP address. Logic would dictate you need your own IP address. Most hosts only charge $1-2 assuming it doesn't already come with it's own address.

Thats exactly what i want to know, how could i get a server like technibble, as u said its a dedicated IP, how should i go about to that? is there any good webhosting company u know?

you need to ask your web host company to set an IP to your web site, or if you have your own home based server contact your ISP for more information.

I know that my hosting company cherges something like 20-40$ per year for dedicated IP.

...........really? Maybe this isn't so daft because.....

This has nothing to do with IP addresses, which host you choose, the plan, if you're sharing a server, or any of that nonsense.

The reason sites are blocked is because the domain (and maybe the IP) is listed in a database and is blocked through either your DNS server or through a websense server or something like that. Depending on how it's blocked, you may be able to go to http://69.63.180.14/ to get to Facebook.

To answer the question more directly, to be able to access the site at work it needs to be discovered and entered into the database and catagorized. Most services (OpenDNS for example) will crawl sites and then categorize them. Your network admin may have categories blocked so that only sites in "Computers and Internet" will show up, and anything else won't...especially if it's not crawled already.

exactly so how do i get my site categorized in "computers and internet"? I spoke to my web hosting company, they said "we cant do it", it sounded like they had no idea what i was talking about. So as i told ya, i m going to open up a new blog, i wanna make sure i dont do the same mistake again, so Mr.14049752 can ya guide me to a way to purchase the web hosting from somewhere which can categorize my site in "computers and internet

PS.: u told me to open up the website with its IP, but i aint talking about breaking the setup.

I answered all of your questions in my second post.

To be categorized, your site needs to be crawled (or submitted) by the service being used.

And I wasn't talking about "breaking" anything. I was demonstrating how it works. Go read up on how DNS works.

I dont understand why are u pulling the "crawling" concept in this thing. If youre thinking about the search engieens crawler, then that doesnt make ANY DIFFERENCE. even the domain names dosnt make any difference. There is no database for the IPs to be blocked.

Its just my current web hosting company doesnt know what categories are LOL. show me some good company who can do it, thats only thing i want to know.

...
websites are categorized by a third-party or your company's IT department NOT the general internet.

I certainly hope you aren't providing tech services...

you guyz arent getting me. It has nothing to do with IT of MY OFFICE, neither it has something to do with search engieens. Its just that the categorization needs to be done by the side of webhsoting company, which appearently my web hosters doesnt know.

You can NOT categorize your own website except through ICRA (http://www.icra.org/) and most web filtering software makes no use of this.

You obviously have no idea how web filtering software works.

I also notice that techmafias.com is on the same server as the blocked site that you quoted which is probably the real reason you wan to be able to access sites on that server from your workplace. Perhaps unsurprisingly none of the domains hosted on the same IP appear to be legitimate work-related or ethical (by most standards) sites.

For those who don't know, user 'indiansword' is site admin to www.techmafias.com who claim to be "ethical hackers".

..:: Tech Mafias ::.. where we show how to hack for educational purposes. So lets be part of us and explore more beyond what u see. (sic)

If you look at this YouTube video you can judge for yourselves if indiansword's motives and actions are at all ethical and at what level they are educational. I'd be interested to learn from what IP he posts his crap on this forum from.

1. I am in office right now, so dont know what video ur talking about. But if thats something about some website vulnerability, then i can assure that it was notified to the webmaster, rather than exploiting it.
2. I didnt take the name of TechMafias because i didnt want to create the same mess which took palce last time.
3. I will still say its ETHICAL. there are 100s of website where we guyz helped to fix the vulnerability.

Mr. 14049752, i am trying to relate to your post and reading some articles online. hope i would understand soemthing.

Nothing is crap unless u understand it, so try to keep ur language smooth.

lets stick to the original topic guyz, otherwise its deviating us (altealeast me). google "indiansw0rd", u will get nothing that could HARM something. u will never find any of my videos where i am actually defacing soemthign. it was jsut a practice kinda sessiosn for member after changing the admin control panel folders name.

aah god damn, dont report this post. it was a nice question which i cudnt understand so seeked help. anyways thanks mr.14049752 ur post helped me.

Indiansword, this categorization is done by the company that is providing your works web filtering, it has nothing to do with the hosting company. It also has little to do with the IP address since as you said before, many sites (both good and bad) can be on the same IP. In some cases, the IPs of the big boys like Myspace, Facebook, Youtube can be blocked since these are dedicated site, but its unlikely for a shared host to have their IP banned because of one bad site on a server with many good ones.

Basically, there is crap all you can do. If the people providing the web filtering want to block your site, they will.
