How long after I delete a team can I recreate it as a shared mailbox, or am I doing this wrong?

Client has a Team setup as info@contoso.com with the option to allow external organizations to email the Group. So this company checks these emails under the Groups sub-category in Outlook but they want to be able to mark as read, flag, color, delete etc. So I advised them the only way I know how to do this is with a shared mailbox.

This is correct ... right?

If I delete the Team, how long after I delete it should I be able to re-create it as a shared mailbox, or is there a better way of doing this?

I know about a year or so ago, Teams with mailboxes...can show up as shared mailboxes. I haven't played with what permissions or features you can tickle, just cracked one open now and I can delete email. Looks like I can flag too.

And then of course...still may take a few minutes if not hours to tickle through all the nooks 'n crannies to update that email address so...the new one is considered available. Some days some things seem to only take a few minutes, other days..same tasks can seem to take an hour or so-ish.

I went the rename route because I was having issues tracking down the exact powershell commands.

I made the team private, removed everyone except myself, changed the email address in Groups to blahblaharchive@contoso.com

I was then able to create the shared mailbox IMMEDIATELY WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
