Help Desk Software

For years I used a custom built Microsoft Access Database Help Desk which took me ages to build. Then for the past couple of years I have been using CommitCRM as my main help desk, but as a piece of software I am finding it now just a bit tired.

I have been searching the Internet for variations on a help desk theme, but am finding that the majority of help desk software seems to be aimed at internal company management with web-based customer portals, allowing customers to create tickets themselves.

What I am looking for is when a potential customer rings or completes my on-line website enquiry form I am able to create a customer database entry in a similar manner to that of CommitCRM then a ticket if need be, and allow for updating or making changes to an external customer's data such as change of address or other relevant information on an on-going basis.

I certainly do not need customers creating web-based tickets via a portal, which seems to be the fashion with many help desk packages, but wish to keep everything localised on my 2012 server with access only from my workstations.

Has any seen something out there that may fit the bill.

Regards to all

It may be more than what you need/want, but I believe that WebHelpDesk has a windows install and will do the trick. On top of that, unless things have changed, a single tech license is free.
