While working on a computer today I was asked to install some software for Windows 3.11 it would not work, but looking through the manual for the software I spotted this gem.

I'm sure there is more id I look through the book.

What was that manual for? Surely it wasn't distributed with some software?

It was with some software for a farm to manage cattle records. It seems to be a very small firm who is no longer trading. The software was on two floppy disks.

If I have time I'll scan the rest of the manual.

It seems rather contemptuous towards poor "Uncle Bill Gates" (et al). :D

You can almost date it by that alone. While Gatesy has always been the subject of ridicule to some degree, there was a period, probably around the mid 90's, where it reached a peak and it became fashionable to mock him and Microsoft.

..and most ppl lament the loss of Steve Jobs in Apple, credit Steve Jobs with Apple bring the Almighty! Apart from that he was a prick and a user of talent and knowledge to his own. I know we all know that here most probably - Gates on the otherhand is more refined. He actually knows the product, and knows how it works.

Now he and his wife have gone on to donate oodles [thats a currency] of money to charity in their philanthropic efforts. I think they as in Mr & Mrs Gates should be applauded for their efforts.

What did Steve Jobs donate to or Apple Conglomerate? Steve gave away millions, in secret? Why did he do that, cause he wanted to be a super hero..no. He realised in himself how greedy his monopoly was on consumers and his workforce ie..Guilt trip

I've scanned it all in, if anyone would like a full read if you pm me your email address as it's. 90 pages long.

It's from around 1993.

The backup section says not to use a new drive for a backup as you just give floppy drive manufacturer money.

I wrote my first computer end user manual in 1996, how to use Microsoft Word, Windows 95 and printer help. I spent so much time on that, it was to help the computer lab techs learn how to assist the students.

I found it when I was packing, it was a gem.

Fun to see this old stuff Paul!
