I just had a chap from Yahoo Local on the phone telling me that Google are about to seriously crackdown on their Google Places database and will remove 250,000 entries

I reckon that he was bs'ing but just wanted to check to see if anyone else has heard anything?

I'd call BS on it. If there were any truth to it, Google would have to be verifyng that those 250,000 were no longer/never were in business.

Sounds like crappy scare tactics to me.

That sounds like the guy who wanted all my old file cabinents for him to recycle because japan is buying all the metal in america to make nukes.

I took them myself why would I let him make 200$ from japan when I could....

There may be some truth in this.
We have 2 websites for our business, but they both use the same phone number. These now only show as 1 business. If you only have 1 domain then i dont think it will affect you.
We have changed one of the phone numbers and now both are showing up again.

I have heard people say this before and nothing ever comes from it

My service aria consists of 2 counties and I have my business listed in 3 city's right now. I am thinking about getting PO boxes in some other city's so I can add more listings.

Google only allows 3 listings before they require you to provide a physical address to verify. I want to add my business to 3 other city's that are in my service aria. With the amount of business I get from Google I feel that the price of a PO box in those city's would be a good investment.
