Curios what everyone is doing for Fall/Winter Clothing.

I need to replace some of my stuff and so I have plans to get a Mountain Parka, Down Vest and Down Jacket. I already got a dress Jacket for the cool weather and a new Hoodie.

I'm also considering a fleece jacket (like a hoodie style, small but warm) but not sure if its overkill. Here in Canada on the West Coast I'm not sure what to expect this winter. We had a heat dome, drought, so who knows what winter has in store.

Finding good prices is nearly impossible in Canada, and Amazon.ca seems rife which direct from China garbage. I think I'm going to import from Japan again. I've seen all of the above items for $36, $20, $25 with most items being either new or nearly new. Value Village used to be an option some years but prices have gone through the roof.

My mom mentioned Mark's Work Warehouse, but $60 seems to high for plastic clothes. I know its not just "plastic" but the market on what is essentially refined plastic is a bit much. I also haven't noticed a quality increase either, zippers still break or fail, so it's not like I am buying peace of mind. At $60 or so "on sale" my winter wardrobe is going to eat through my funds. I'm not rich. :/

I managed to to get a good deal on my past Japan purchases. A Lenovo Tab 2 Android Tab for $20 as I'm in need of a tablet and don't have a few hundred to put on a high end and most of the low end is garbage. I previously got a Toshiba DyntaTab S50 10" Windows Tab for Library apps for $40. I also got a new Sharp Phone for $55 (new for me) Aqua Sense 2. It has IGZO panel which is interesting as I was completely unaware that panel type existed. Too much fun.

What is everyone else doing?

It has never ceased to amaze me what some people give away, sometimes with tags still on it, never having been worn.
That reminded me of my Great Aunt. She had been blind for years due to macular degeneration but still loved to shop. Hadn't seen her in a long time but when she passed away suddenly I drove in to help my Dad with things. She had piles of clothes lying around in every room. And when I say piles I really mean piles. As in 3-4' high, all with the tags still on.

Back to the OP. I bought a real parka years ago for some $450. But since I'm in NC now I've not pulled it out yet. Down here really cold is maybe 30F unlike when I was up north in MA and surrounding states. Lost count of the number of times I had to work outside when the temps were in the teens or single digits and wind chill was much lower. I'll wear stuff until it falls apart. Got a light weight insulated zip up jacket thats going on 30 years now.

Starting to shift here...while we still get some days where the temps might juuuuuust get above 70*F...those days are quick disappearing. Mid 50's is getting common, nights into the upper 30's...we've already had our first frost night.
Gone are the steady days of the 80's with evenings dipping into the 70's.

So I probably had my last "Hawaiian shirt" day last week. In the spring/summer...I pretty much wear Hawaiian shirts every day for work.
The long sleeve shirts started last week.....every day this week so far. Jeans...if I'm wearing long pants...it's denims. Haven't worn "slacks" or "khakis" in...oh...wow...decades. Old school docksiders if I'm wearing shoes..such as M-F.

I generally just wear a fleece on top when outside or driving. Rarely wear a full winter coat unless I'm outside for a long period of time, like...shoveling show in the driveway.

As with everything else, I try to buy American when I can. If something I like is not made in the USA ...I'll see if it's at least not made in China....I'm OK with stuff made in Dominican, or other southern Asia countries, or elsewhere...I just do my best to avoid "made in China".

I ended up buying my winter wardrobe from Japan. I was buying a whole bunch of other goods, and got an insulated work jacket for $15 (new with tags) and a puffer jacket for $40, hoodie for $20, shirts for $10 each. I also got a down vest for $35 (Uniqlo). Shipping when combined with my other items, was about $10 per item.

The cheapest puffer jacket on Amazon was no name Chinese $125, some only shipped from China. In Canada, a new Uniqlo down vest was $69 plus tax. I'm sure the work jacket would be at least $60-80 depending on store and stock.

Good question, I'm moving from Florida to Nashville in a few weeks, so good bye all my Fl clothes, it's 40 degrees there today. I started by buying a red peacoat, should be good enough for the winter
