Fake Phone Calls Running Rampant

The worst spammers are the fake google listings calls they run rampant and call you every single day for a while it was quiet now it is getting out of hand they call every 3 hours worst of all i phoned my phone provider they have no way to trace or block these calls yet google is actively going after these guys they are putting in new equipment though so they can trace and block spoofed numbers.
What are these calls there are 2 types.
1. they try to sell you a service for your listing.
2. they use social engineering and record your voice ask you questions get your info make a fake audio out of it giving permission to google for you to add them to your account with top privileges they then steal your listings and hold them hostage for money.
.
BEWARE Call From Google Business Listings is Fake

This has been really getting ridiculous lately. I'm receiving numerous phone calls daily where they never say anything. I'll call back and the number will not be in service, immediately goes to voicemail, or some other variation. I block these numbers, but they seldom use the same one. This is wasting my time and needs to stop. It shortly started after stop doing business with a crap company but could be a coincidence. In the past it was seldom and not as bad. Now it's a problem. I need a solution to this.

I love the robo calls that say "Hello and please don't hang up..." I don't know what they say after that because I always hang up.

What I've started to do sometimes is answer but stay silent. If there's a real person on the other end they'll say something, if it's a robocall they'll hang up. Once I'm switched over to a VoIP setup instead of just my cell I'll probably need to set up an auto-attendant that'll still address most of those.

I like that idea. I'll have to try it next time I get a call.

Starting last year I've basically stopped answering any number I don't recognize. Even then they still leave messages. The "Hey this is Paul I'm sorry....." keeps on coming in.

Wish I could do that. Here in Florida, everybody seems to be from "somewhere else" and they bring their cell phone from "somewhere else" with them. In a given day, over 50% of the phone calls are from area codes I don't recognize, but are legitimate customers. (I'm getting good at recognizing area codes from certain parts of the country!)

The ones I ignore (or do the silent bit on) are ones from my area code + prefix, because it's still relatively little-used and the only two numbers I know of within it are mine and my wife's. I know the calls aren't from someone in my town (which is what spoofing those is attempting to mimic) because technically my prefix is assigned to a town 15-20 miles away, and to a cell carrier at that.

My telco provider finally got new system installed and up and running so far it been very quiet i use to get up to 30 calls a day ranging from google business listing scams to CRA scams and bank scams and war dialing fax machines all that gone with the new upgrade.

I use to get this fax war dialing me all day long on my voice number always with the number blocked even the telco could not trace it or block it very annoying every 10 mins for 6 hours strait now all i get are customer calls.

I had one the last couple days.

Caller ID: Unknown (gee what a shocker)
Number: NONE (none you say?)

Great. So I go into the call blocking. Can't block NONE. FML.

The fix for that is to hook up a fax machine and let the fax come through, then call them and complain.

Bonus points if it's a medical office with someone's records going to the wrong number and you can escalate it due to the privacy violations.

Double extra points if you don't mind the line being tied up and can set your fax machine to 2400 or lower.

I had 5 in one day - then stall then the answer. Sometime when a "Provider" isn't available it just says goodbye. When one is they normally they say feck you in a nice James Smith accent from India.

My area was getting blasted this past week with fake apple support. Some people were getting 60 calls a day. They had to call their providers to get the numbers blocked. Next week it'll just be a different number lol.
