Fab's AutoBackup

I just upgraded from 4. New features are nice but the GUI is a mess! It makes my brain hurt having to use it. :(

Well, you tried a new design format and it didn't work out, but the product itself is outstanding. I show this to other techs and tell them they have to stop doing this stuff manually and buy this program. :D
 
I've been beta testing V6 for a while now and the new UI is significantly better and more intuitively obvious. In addition, Fabrice has improved how certain items are backed up and restored.

I really like it!
 
My only problem with version 6 so far has been where it didn't offer to backup the user data on a drive connected via USB. It found the accounts okay but all but one of check boxes of what to back up were unchecked. Had to back them up manually.

Do you still have the issue with the latest beta ?
On which item did it fail ?

Hi Fab. I was using Fab's AutoBackup 6 Pro 6.0.0.25188 and no longer have the drive, unfortunately. I can ask the customer to return it but they live quite some distance away. I'll try with another drive of my own and see if it behaves the same. I'll still ask the customer, as well.

This version had some stability issues. I do not think they were causing what you encountered as the bugs showed up when lanching the copy job.
If it is not already done, I would suggest that you download the V6.0.0.25191 which has been fixed.

By the way, when you come across something like that, do not hesitate to email me with as much information as you can. You may also turn on the debug mode. That helps harvesting informations on how it used to run.
If no one tell me about issues, they may remain in the final release if I do not find them by myself :/

Yes, I apologize for not contacting you directly--I'd do that in the future. It only happened the day before yesterday and I hoped to experiment a bit more to see if it is common to all USB adapter-connector drives. I download the latest beta when I receive notification that there has been an update.
 
I've been using version 4 for years and recently upgraded to 5. You just need to be a bit careful when using it, but it has saved me a huge amount of time. I still wish the way it handled transferring email accounts was better though.

Do you have issues with email accounts with all email clients or just some of them ? If so, which ones are problematic and very important too, with what kind of connection protocol ?
 
I just figured out why I had inadvertently used version V6.0.0.25188, in spite of having downloaded version V6.0.0.25191. When I used FTP to download the latest installer, I mistakenly dragged it into the folder that's created when you run the installer. So, when I went to run the program itself in that same folder, it was the older version. Doh! I won't make that mistake again. :o

That explains what happened ;)
So far, I do not have feedbacks about issues in the latest beta. It looks like I will be able to release V6 this week. Everything else around it is ready.

Looking forward to it Fabrice. As a keen supporter since version 4, I wanted to apply for the beta but never got round to it LOL. :)
