I don't buy printers very often so I'm not having much luck finding what I'm looking for. I want the convenience of having two trays, the ability to print in color, network connectivity, and prefer laser. I figured since most of us use such things in our offices (except me at this point) this would be a good place to ask for suggestions & warnings. I'd like to keep it mid priced, say under $600 - $700.

You will want to look at something like a Xerox WorkCentre 6515 or something similar.

You generally have to step up to business class to get multiple tray MFPs with colour.

Depending on. Your print volume you may want to look at leasing one or buying an off lease unit.

We like our Brother color laser printer (even if it isn't a dual-try setup. But they do make some mighty nice units.

As @Altster said above. Or, for a more enterprise one, I have the Brother MFC-L890CDW along with an extra tray. But that puts it a bit over your $700 however, you can opt for the 250 sheet tray for about $100 less which would put you at your budget. I've been using mine extensively and its worked flawlessly, unlike the 2 POS HP laser printers I went through within a year. Needless to say, I push/recommend Brother to all my business clients and have deployed several this year with no issues what-so-ever.

Probably not relevant but I bought my first Brother monchrome laser printer this year and am very disappointed in the envelope printing capability. Regular printing, it does a superb job.

I'd only pick a manufacturer which has widespread parts availability if it's not a disposable model. Which at that price point it's not. So I'd go with HP or Lexmark. And I'd probably try look at getting a used higher end model with a reasonable page count. There's plenty of HP's on eBay. Also remember that most models have the flip down multi-purpose tray. Getting one that actually has two separate trays is going to cost more if new. And some of the HP's and Lexmark's will have the option to add a second tray at purchase.

Long weekend. Sorry for the delay.

I know the Brother brand has been around a long time, and it seems (by the reviews I've read) to be a reasonably well made product. I've had a number of HP's and have had good luck with them. But those were just printers and not Multifunction. @Altster made a good suggestion. I'm looking at that, but wondering if I can find something comparable for less money.

Yea I don't think you won't find anything cheaper than that non MFP brother with the second tray above. Another option is used.
