Just a heads up for anyone that may still have Windows Server 2012 in service, note... This is R1 only! Windows Server 2012 R2 is NOT impacted by this.

Microsoft released to these platforms KB4532920, 2019-12 Servicing Stack Update for Windows Server 2012 for x64-based systems.

This update is marked to be installed exclusively, however for some idiot reason it's being installed by Windows Update with some other updates, a few of these such as KB890830, Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool x64...

These updates conflict, and put the servers into a rolling reboot state. The solution to restoring the systems is to boot them into safe mode. Mash F8 on the consoles like old times, safe mode. You only have to do this once, the server will complete its update, automatically reboot and everything will be online and happy again.

I've got three of these left, and yesterday morning the two HyperV hosts died... just now I noticed the one 2012 guest I have left was in a boot loop this morning.
