[WARNING] DDoS attack underway against DNS host Dyn

I wondered what was up. I couldn't get to their home page at all this morning. I was able to get to the account login page and see my hosts. At the time (about an hour ago), downforeveryoneorjustme reported the site was up. Guess that says something about how much weight you give that result, huh? :-) I have a ton of domains on there, guess I should prepare for the phone calls.

One day some attacker is going to leave a DDOS on for a fortnight instead of a few hours and then maybe, just maybe, people in general will start to realise how big a problem this is and how it's only going to get worse at the moment.

I can get to their home page now, but the level3 updated chart doesn't seem to go with their updated map.

The end of the graph is actually a steep return to almost zero - the latest datapoint shows only 7 reported problems, from a high of 725 a half-hour ago.

Edit: and now it's back up to 135 so never mind. I have a few on noip.com, wonder if they might be more insulated because they are smaller... Welcome to the new normal I guess.

I've not seen anything either but I am in West Texas but one of my clients can't connect to the VPN in Dallas and that may be the cause.

I have a business customer on Verizon DSL (fastest service available where they are). They have been down all morning. Verizon tech support just told them "Our DNS Alias system is down. Try rebooting your DSL modem every two hours until it comes back up."

So - hmmm. Scapegoat much? ...or legitimate side effect?

My site was down last night and today I have had 2 attempted attacks on some of my cloud sites, Time for a password reset day looks like

Tried to update a customer's Playstation and couldn't get the update file from Sony's site due to DNS errors all day. Wondered why until now. Guess I got a phone call to make.
