I had a new customer and a neighbor in my complex had me look at his Toshiba Satellite A215 laptop that he bought off Cragislist. Decent laptop, but I noticed right away particles of something around the keyboard area including in between the keys.

I decided that it would be easier to just take out the keyboard to clean it out as well as in the same area. Took out the screws, the bezeel above the keyboard and then the keyboard and cleaned it out with canned air and wiped over the area with Windex. Put everything back together, boot up the laptop, hearing beepings sounds for a few seconds, gets to the desktop, click on Start and in the white Search box, letters start appearing by themselves....lol....ok, shut down the laptop, disassembled the same parts, put them back together, same issue.

All I did was just clean the darn thing-:)-:)

Could have been from whatever was in there before causing the keys to act like they are stuck down, unless you used a too much Windex or tipped the canned air too much where is was shooting frozen liquid nitrogen into the keyboard. See it often with liquid spills. Was that anything to do with the original issue?

You can try dissembling the keyboard and cleaning it better.

I take all the keys off and put them in a boll of water. Then clean the base. With a kitchen towel clean each key and reattach it to the base. Its a long drawn out job but it the keyboard is expensive it might be worth it. Just make sure if you are not conferable knowing with where keys go on keyboards you take pictures first.

I disassembled a third time, made sure there were no wet spots anywhere. I'm going to let everything sit out for few hours and dry off. I'm hoping that's what it is.

After letting it sit it, the keyboard that is...lol....I assembled everything back and it seems to be working now.

I did think about ordering a new keyboard and I checked ebay as well for some prices. T

Dan: Thanks for the link. I was actually looking at the exact same ads that were in that link-:) Where is your repair business located? What town in Northern NJ? If you're not too far, I may have to stop by and say hello. I'm in Edison, NJ.

NY Jimbo: I used Windex to wipe the keyboard and actually the entire laptop, it was just filthy. Second dirty computer in two weeks-:)

Thanks for all of your responses, appreciate it!
