Chrome endless pop-ups

Chrome has endless pop-ups on the right side, as soon as you click them off, they come back.
I come across these often, done scans with Malwarebytes, nothing seems to get rid of them, other than exporting bookmarks and any passwords, then uninstalling Chrome, when it asks to delete history, say yes, then reinstalling Chrome.
Does anybody know of an easier way?

No snark intended, and @phaZed made a good starting recommendation.

But, seriously, consider ditching Chrome if it doesn't end up working out. There are plenty of excellent Chromium-based browsers, several of which are well-known for privacy focus: Brave, Vivaldi, and even Perplexity.ai's new Comet.

Chrome is an excellent web browser, but it's the data collection and dossier-building that's part and parcel of Chrome that I just can't stomach anymore (and this is coming from someone who uses Android and other Google products, but who finally had enough of Chrome).

Good advice

After you have done what phaZed has said then do the reset to defaults chrome://settings/reset
Man, I'm old school. I just export the bookmarks then rename the Chrome folder under the appdata folder to chrome_old. That resets literally everything. With your method, does it retain the bookmarks/cookies/saved passwords?
