Cats or pets thread

We have 3 dogs.

This is Kooky.

Kooky is a rescue (as are all of our dogs). She was 8 months old when we collected her.
Kooky's story is that we are her 5th owners.
I have no idea as to what happened with owner's 1+2.
3rd owner took her from the rescue centre. Had her for <24 hours, and returned her to the centre, for apparent food guarding issues!.

So back to the kennels she went. The rescue centre, took some time attempting to find her another good home.
Couple of months later, she is adopted again.
4th Owners - Experienced handlers / trainers / owners.
Returned her again less than 24 hours. This time because she barked at the parrot!

So we had to jump through some enormous hoops to get Kooky.
We collected her on the 1st Feb 2014. She has been with us ever since, and is going nowhere!.
Kooky, is Claire's (my wife's) agility dog. They started training last year. Around 12 months ago now.
Claire and Kooky, got their 2nd ever clear round last Saturday, and won their height and ability status.
I'm so so proud of them. They are coming on leaps and bounds.

This is Molly, my agility dog.

As some of you know, I am disabled, with serious mobility issues (back related). So when we 'run' a course, I send Molly off into where I want her to go, giving commands, and arm movements, telling her what to do next, ie tunnel, weave, a frame, left right, go, go etc.

I posted a video of one of our distance runs Jan '14, in a distance handling facebook group.
In this particular run, we came in 3rd place. 0.25 seconds behind a friend of ours, who ran physically (as 99% of handlers do) with their dogs.
The following morning, I received a PM, off the England Manager of the English Paragility Team. Asking us to join the team who were off to Italy last Aug.
Unfortunately timing and money was a major issue (when isnt it). So we couldn't make it.
We have been asked to be a part of the team again this year going to Austria. Again we are not able to make this year. But next year, we will definitely be a part of the team!

This is Molly, when we first collected her from the rescue centre. 5½ years ago. She was approx 10 weeks old at this point.

Finally, there's Harry or H, as I call him.

Harry was my 1st rescue dog. We got him 11 years ago now. He's now 13. Again he was back and forth to the centres for what ever excuse they could offer.

He is the most placid dog you could ever imagine. Unless you have a entire male dog, or are a black dog. Then he goes beserk. No amount of training can stop this.

Harry is a couch potato. He has his own leather couch, he goes on, and is a sun worshipper.

Our cat unfortunately is not well - a few weeks back we noticed his eyes very dilated and bumping into objects. He is blind now, the other week his head tilted sideways permanently. Then suddenly last night his hind legs lost movement and he was crawling around using his two front legs. He was fine during the day then BAM. We are taking him to the Vet tonight but doesn't look good so may have to be euthanized, very sad as well we had to explain to our two young girls of what is going on and what may occur, very sad :(

Thats MickyD on the left :(

So sorry to hear about MickyD not feeling well. I know how animals become such a part of our families and it's tough when they pass. That's the sucky part of owning pets with a life span much shorter than ours. Stay strong @frase and sorry again, I know that feeling all too well. :(

Why is your lab awake while in the truck? My father has a Ford truck too, with a gigantic brown Lab. She is completely, 100% passed out sleeping within 10 seconds of touching the seat in the truck. She remains sleeping all day while he is at work. When he gets home, she doesn't wake up for another 30 minutes and he has to go back into the driveway and carry all 100lbs of her out of the truck because she doesn't like to do it herself.

So lazy, it is unbelievable. Throw a tennis ball, though, and she's a firecracker.
