Can't get to boot menu or bios!

would be nice if I had an option to boot to anything!-I would have finished this hours ago. There is no floppy drive, heres the unit http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=4010485&CatId=1900 all it will do is start at a screen that says resuming system from hibernation then asks for a password. Thats why I have to try and reset the bios.

Well from what I read--I'll try to find the link again.

When you flash a MSI bios it only re-writes a portion of the BIOS. Leaving the recovery program still on the chip, if a flash goes bad. So when you initially start the PC, before it gives you any messages you jam the Ctrl-Home
key and see if that'll take you into the "special bios recovery mode".

But like ya said, no floppy drive so yeah that won't work.

I guess back to trying to erase the memory to get rid of the password :)

what do you mean by ctrl-home? I've tried every f-key there is, along with del, esc and pulling the plug with it on! Can't jar it loose - maybe since I'm in the NW, freezing, its going to stay in hibernation! I want to try anything that I can to avoid tearing it apart-since I have no manual to go by.

Press Ctrl and Home keys at the same time (Home should be above your Page Up/Down Keys)..

Just out of curiosity, I tried searching for bios updates and stuff for the pc you linked. I came up dry. Hmm, kind of makes me wonder. If I can't find the model number of the motherboard, bios updates or anything, how on earth would some non-technical user find that information and try to flash the bios :)

Maybe its not a bad bios update gone wrong afterall.

What else could it be.. hmmmmm

Yes, this is why I got into this biz for is the challenge, but this is ridiculous! Medion sent me one link for the mobo, but it looks useless, its not even for my model! Mine's MD96340!

FYI- ctrl-home didn't work either

Try F2 to get in to the BIOS.

tried all F* keys- fail. Now I have all screws removed on the bottom, trying to find the cmos battery, I can only find one center keyboard screw- the *&%! keypad won't come off! hung-up on right side underneath somehow.

According to the manual F2 is the correct key for this model. It also suggests the unit should be able to boot from the CD by default using the Aplication /Support CD which would contain a Ghost image of the original setup.

TBH if your client does not have this restore CD then it's a bit suspicious for a machine that's still relatively new and I would return it to them saying you cannot proceed unless they can provide the original CD.

Don't break your balls over this one, sometimes it's better to walk away.
