got a machine that the customer said has a virus removed automatically by their AV software but now won't open web sites. Both firefox and IE are waiting for response from web site, dns is resolving ok. Already ran winsock fix, tcp/ip fix, and lspfix, also rebuilt the lsp from the command prompt and ran norton remover. Anyone have any other suggestions? I can remote into the machine so the network and internet connection are fine.

That should say "as reportedly removed by their AV software".

As ACG suggests, you still have a virus and/or malware on that system. The AV has done a splendid job as could be expectedly software solutions, but it's now your job to hunt for & kill the root cause.

In AV scanning was the answer, the scumbags who write this crap would have given up the game long ago.

Of course there's always nuke'n'pave...

I had a similar issue, if theres no root kit, did you disable any startups? Double check any startups you may have disabled, thats how I fixed mine!
