Anyone tried "USPS-Every Door Direct Mail"?

I know this is an old post put just wanted to share my .02 cents. I've done EDDM marketing on and off. I ran into a problem one time where the postman was NOT delivering our flyers. We purchased legal size flyers that were pretty big. In my neck of the woods were surrounded by office buildings with each building having about 80 offices. I market to most of this people frequently and since we share same buildings/parking lot I am friends with most of them. According to my postmaster these flyers should be received no later than 3 days after I drop them off at the local station. I checked in with my "friends" daily and NONE reported receiving them. What was worse was that this was a big campaign for me as I paid to send out 5,000 flyers (this is the limit).

Long story short I've been fighting over this with the post office, postmaster, manager and never got anywhere. Some people mentioned that it may just be the local station but I've tried other stations as well with smaller campaigns (about 2,000 flyers) and never got a good ROI. After this experience I would go with something else.

If you did go with something do you have an idea what it would be?

I am about to do a postcard mail drop to area SMB's, basically we are new in town and I was wanting to get our name out there with little cost. After reading some of the posts on this forum, I am getting a bit leary to spend on this.

I was hoping you'd post an update. Sorry to hear it hasn't produced yet, but it's only been a week or so. I wouldn't necessarily give up yet. It's not easy to generate immediate traffic when you're advertising a repair service, unless they just happen to have an pressing need.

I haven't finished my flyer/postcard design yet, but my goal is to make it memorable, with some incentive for them to keep it around until they need it. Maybe like advertising a drawing for a free tune-up/accessory, if they visit my website and register. That way, they get more exposure to my branding, provide me with additional marketing channels, may bookmark my site/read my blog/subscribe to RSS feed....and so on. Of course that means I also need to be much more diligent with providing new and interesting content
This is BRILLIANT. Gives me more incentive to get a functional website together ASAP!
