Turning "member lists" into sales - cold calling / Emailing, etc

I'm wondering if anyone has ever had a membership or employee list of an organization or club (not all the lists I have are of the same sort of club, or else I would be more specific) which they could use as a source for finding clients - think a chamber of commerce member list for example.

The lists that I have contain: Member name (& family members), address, vacation address, email(s), phone(s), business address & phone, business name & position, birthday (member & family members) & some other random data.

The list to which the members belong have no relation to computers, tech or business. Many members know each other but with the size of the club not all know each other - so I was wondering how a referral service may work in this scenario.

My idea was to make a special flyer for these potential clients and mail it to them as well as email them a day or so after the mail flyer should have been received (what time frame sounds ideal for this, 1-4 days after receipt?). Basically the email is an easy way for them to respond, without having to type in email/website, and request a callback or anything else offered.

The only thing that I am worried about is if it would be strange to receive a promotion for members of a specific club. Some of them are athletic/recreational, some academic/science, some business. A few that I am focusing on are recreational & include private real estate communities - so offering a promotion to the whole community & members wouldn't seem strange would it?
