Anyone using adwords, they always say to add more money to get more hits, but has anyone actually tried that and had success with it?

I started out with 300 a month and added to it over the years and got more business. Now I spend around 3500 a month with adwords. So yes if it is working for you increase and see if you get more business. I am the number one shop in town and still spend the money. When you search pc repair in town you will see my company 5 times on the first page.

Why do I still spend the money? Because if I turn off the ads I see a decrease.

Test it with your company and watch the number of calls and income. Increase, decrease, turn off and compare.

If you are seeing any sort of conversion rate then you probably could add more money to get more hits.
But its not just about that, Adwords doesnt operate on its own. Before adding any more money I would look at optimising what you are already paying for.

Do your ads go to a landing page specific to the ad? or does it go to your front page? - For example, if I searched for "virus removal", your virus removal ad came up and I clicked it - I would expect to hit a page where you tell me all about your virus removal. I wouldnt want to get dumped to the front page of the site because I lose context.

Are the pages setup to convert? I took a look at your site and the pages I could see arent setup to convert.
For example, the only place your phone number shows up on your site is a tiny 10-12pt font at the bottom of your site.

On the contact form, it only asks for name, email, and message. What if I have a problem with receiving email? How are you going to get back to me?

Most people dont read on the internet, they scan. I would break up your text with headlines and paragraphs so I can see what you are all about without really reading it.

The text convinces your visitor out of using your services, talking about if they dont pay you will still train them to look after themselves.

Fixing these would get you more conversions at the same cost.

I definentgly feel like I can convert better on the my landing page. But all my ads have different page you land on that you can't get to unless you have the direct link here:

Well I was going to link it, but just realized that I only made one for facebook, going to have to get on that.

Do you guys have an example of what you put for your ads? Any fancy wording?

Thanks for sharing your landing page. You could be getting so many more conversions with some small tweaks.

I know your original question here was about bumping up your marketing spend. And I assume you are simply trying to get more phone calls. I really think that you can gain so much more by optimizing your sales page before spending more money on Google/Facebook ads.

Some optimizations:

- The font and its sized are too hard to read. Its currently Rockwell I think, I find Ariel works better.

- Due to the font size, and that its a block of text, I simply cant be bothered reading it. Break it up with large headlines so I can scan it.

- What is being said is not great. The focus should be telling them what you can do for them, and have them pay you for it. I feel you are giving away the farm for free with your text. It also attracts cheap clients:

Sinn Technologies in Middleton, WI Is your up and coming IT Service!
Dont care about you, what are you going to do for ME?

Where we not only solve your problem, we offer free training as well!
You don’t even have to buy from us to get free training, just fill in the form and we will send you free guides as they are built!
Great! Sounds like I dont need to spend any money to get the benefits from you.

With my virus removal or tune up service, we get your computer up and running in tip top shape. Then we set you up with a guide on how to restore your computer to the exact state I left it in if you have trouble in the future. (currently guides only being written in Windows 8 or Windows 10).
Great! Sounds like I'll never need to pay you money again.

More training with repairs to come! As I figure out good info for each type of repair!
Again, you are putting a lot of effort in having me not pay you.

Especially in Middleton which for the area is very upscale.

I see you are also trying to get into the area market working part time (evenings and weekends) and with all the other computer shops in Middleton/Madison it's going to be tough. I assume you are using the free support in an effort to win customers from the established players in Madison.

Back to your original question, UW Whitewater used my site for an Adwords trial. While the ads are there the clicks go up dramatically but no business added came through. The ads stopped, the clicks stopped and there was no residuals. (Others here have good results with adwords.) Personally - I'd think you should go after more Google reviews than Adwords at this point.

Adwords is a great way to advertise. I spend about $5,000/month on Adwords ads. You'll find that the more money you spend, the more calls you'll get...up to a point. You need to find that cutoff point and don't spend any more than that. Just for fun I spent $15,000 on Adwords one month. Unfortunately I didn't get 3x the calls. I probably broke even on the $10,000 extra I spent. So basically, I was working for nothing. On the other hand, if I only spend $2,500 then I get about 1/2 the calls and 1/2 the profit. $5,000 is the sweet spot for me. But it varies by area.

All this aside, if you don't have a good landing page it doesn't matter how much you spend on advertising. You need to get your conversion rate as high as possible before you start spending big bucks on advertising.

The guides, i don't see a problem with. I'm trying to find a way to make myself different. They only explain how to use the antivirus they should have, how to do a system restore on their computer from where I left it. Its 40 pages and I'm riding on they want even read it. Even if they do the lifetime value of it is great, they have hardware issues they come to me. If they really want to know, they can simply do a google search. I also charge a premium for it.

But I get a lot of clicks on my ad but no conversions. I know a lot of people pass me up because they want it done now and the other places are open. But I shine on the weekend when they are closed.

Also, there seems to be a lot of competition, but most are shops like mine, home based. the real players are tech heros and Mad city techs.

But trying to stay positive.

If anyone has any ideas of how I can be unique without giving guides, that would be superb haha

Many techs only work after hours. This can work pretty well when servicing residential since most people work 9-5 as well. It generally doesnt work for business though for the opposite reason.

The reason why the clicks dont convert is the site isnt setup to convert. I mentioned why above, but also check out these resources below.

The reason why you should look at optimizing it is: Lets say for every 20 visits you get, only 1 of them converts into a paid job. If you can raise that 1 to a 2, you essentially double your income.

Alright got the Structure of the text redone, I think I'm going to change some headers around. Now going to add phone to the code so I can get their phone number.

Oh ya, now that I have to read everything you read to. The free guide is just to entice them into contacting me, they might not buy now, but get them to sign up for the guide I might be able to catch them when they decide to buy. They had to click my ad for a reason.

Come on guys, I just read a book on marketing, they said to do that. Have something to entice them to raise there hand in interest and then you can get them later.

I know it works, on thumbtack, I have the highest conversion rating in my area and I'm not the cheapest. Just trying to figure out how to master a different source. But we shall see

But I did change the font, I though it did look way better than we the font I have, I ended up changing it for my whole site.
I got a list of reasons why they should choose me.
Leading up to my call of action

Going to add the phone number today, Think I'm going to make the list look better too.

But if this doesn't start making me money, going to follow the books advice and try something else.
