Interesting post today and this one will have a extras. Some things I have found with adding new accounts to New Outlook is that 365 is finicky and if you're adding a business exchange, it might require the business apps. Seems other accounts add fine but this is just something I noticed recently. As well, clients with products such as 2016 will not be able to use it until they upgrade to 365 business apps. Outlook.com adds fine but that's personal. Seems MS is locking down.

I also noticed a recent change, you can't access a PST without a business apps license.
Also, the Zoom add-in required business apps.

I'm sure there is more to come and if anyone has anything to add to this post, please let me know. I might be wrong but this is what I'm seeing. It's good to note these moving ahead with clients who have older software.

Here is the post I put up on my website:

To read all my New Outlook posts:

Yes 365 Exchange Account MAY or MAY NOT require Business Apps to add an account just been through this. One computer Win 11 Pro (NEW). MS Office Account to logon MS Office 2024 installed after all other office installations removed. Exchange account added just fine into Outlook Classic. One Win 11 Pro computer (NEW). MS Office Account to logon MS Office 2021 installed after all other office installations removed. Exchange account WOULD NOT even if I stuck my tongue in my left cheek and stood on one leg facing the Sun install into Outlook Classic. Uninstalled MS Office 2021, Installed Business Apps, Exchange account configured up without issues in Outlook. Uninstalled Business Apps, Installed MS Office 2021 change licence to Users MS Account into Outlook Classic Exchange account all good. B8F)%$# Microsoft

Yes, cluster eff. After reading your post, I'm going to add it all in my onboarding. These next 4 years might throw me back to 2020 when Microsoft was messing hard with OneDrive and I thought I was going to lose my damnn mind everyday. I also got thrown into Menopause so that didn't help.

Now I'm happy, ready for all of this. Gimme those errors lol.

So you tricked the system? I think that's what I read. Why the need for 2021?

Client had a licence for it and didn't want to upgrade to 2024. Dollars per year he says better for him to have standalone desktop program rather than 365 licencing for computers

This. They sell "lifetime" licenses, they should allow people to actually use them for a while. Most people actually prefer their Office products to remain the same, not have continual feature updates that rearrange where the functions are without adding any actual value. For someone with one computer, who wants to use Outlook and doesn't want all their data in OneDrive, a standalone license is always the best deal.
